  • Mikael became the first Multimedia Video Editor for VOX ATL, helping the company move into the digital age by tutoring staff and volunteer members on video editing and production for journalistic purposes.
  • Mikael has won numerous state and national awards for his work, including winning 1st Place for Best Review Georgia College Press Association Award in 2019, 2020 (where he swept the competition by also winning second and third place), and 2021, a 2019 Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Circle Digital Awards Certificate of Merit, and the 2020 1st Place College Media Association Nationwide Pinnacle Awards Best Arts and Entertainment Story.
  • He has professionally interviewed numerous industry talent, including Michael B. Jordan, Barry Jenkins, Storm Reid, Colman Domingo, the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, Maya Erskine, several artists from Pixar, and more.


Mikael Trench is an award-winning writer with nearly eight years of professional experience in entertainment journalism. His writing journey began during his high school years, where he volunteered at local non-profits that centered around youth journalism. He later gained roles as a Multimedia Video Editor and Arts and Entertainment Editor for organizations such as VOX ATL, SCAD Connector, and SCAN Magazine, where his knowledge of both popular and obscure films and TV shows have earned him several accolades and the opportunity to interview several major names in the entertainment industry. Along with this, Mikael is an award-winning filmmaker who brings his unique experience to the table when diving into his subject matter, aiming to educate himself and others about the nuances of the industry.


Mikael Trench attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where he earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Animation. During all four years of college, he also served as the award-winning Arts and Entertainment Editor for the school’s publication platforms, where he balanced full-time classes with working around tight deadlines, attending pitch meetings, and further guiding other writers and contributors.
