Experience

Matt is a writer and filmmaker based in Chicago. He fell in love with movies, particularly horror movies, at a very young age. He studied both writing and filmmaking in college, and he turned his lifelong obsession into a career when he made several short films that screened all around the country. Following that, he made his first feature film in 2016, and he directed a horror/comedy stage show at Chicago's famed Second City in 2017. He spoke at several indie filmmaking panels throughout the country for the Days of the Dead-branded horror conventions and has been interviewed on and hosted several podcasts on film. He began writing film reviews, event coverage, interviews, and indie horror news for HorrorSociety.com in 2012. He wrote for that brand until he joined Looper in 2022.

Education

Matt attended Columbia College Chicago where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Video, with a concentration in directing.
