  • Julie has been writing for various magazines and websites since 2016.
  • She has had academic papers accepted into prestigious conferences such as the Popular Culture Association Conference.
  • Her master's thesis discussed political postmodernism in The Simpsons and True Blood.


Julie has written for Punknews.org, Comic Book Resources, Out Front Magazine, and New Noise Magazine. She has had poetry published in a number of publications including Amethyst Arsenic and the anthology Look! Up in the Sky: An Anthology of Comic Book Poetry. She briefly served as the host and slammaster of the Denver Mercury Cafe Poetry Slam. She has been the city slam champion of three different cities: Providence, Rhode Island; Worcester, Massachusetts; and Denver, Colorado.


Julie received a Bachelor of Arts from Emerson College with a double major in film and English. She returned to Emerson for a Master of Arts in Media Studies. She was accepted into a PhD program in media studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder, but left before completing the degree to pursue interests outside of academia.
