Experience
Joey was born in San Diego but moved to San Francisco in 2013 to study Music Journalism at San Francisco State University. While pursuing his degree, he worked for several publications, including The Culture Trip and RIFF Magazine, and served as the News Editor at Golden Gate Xpress. The latter was competitive in all aspects, often having to compete with the San Francisco Chronicle for local stories. Following graduation, he moved back to San Francisco and started his own magazine before becoming a full-time freelance journalist. Joey's most previously worked as the News Assignment Editor for Pasadena Now, where he was in charge of tracking and producing at least 13 stories a day for the publication.
Education
Joey went to San Francisco State University, where he studied Print and Online Journalism with a minor in Music. He was the last person from the university to achieve this combination, as the university eliminated music as an approved minor for journalism majors my sophomore year. While attending SFSU, Joey pursued multiple internships while working full-time. A few subjects he has written about since graduating include movies, tv, music, history, entertainment, and news.
