Experience
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gil Macias has lived and breathed pop culture his entire life. Influenced by movies such as "Alien," "Halloween" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street," Gil gravitated toward art, film, television, and writing. In 2006, Gil joined Playboy as an editorial assistant, eventually becoming the magazine's managing editor. His writing has also appeared in publications such as Inked, Blurt, Looper, Nicki Swift, FLOOD magazine, Thrillist, ReMIND magazine, and Out magazine. In 2022, Gil became deputy editor at The A.V. Club, where he managed the weekly editorial calendar, onboarded freelance writers, and served as an editor and staff writer for film, music, and books. Gil has edited digital news content for PEOPLE, and was a regular contributor at Out Magazine and L.A. Weekly. He would join TMZ's TooFab.com as a temporary producer in October 2025.
Education
Gil attended Long Beach City College and received an associate's degree in film, with a concentration in film production and screenwriting.
