Is There A Skrull Hiding In The New Loki Trailer?

Spoilers for the MCU ahead.

Loki is set in the alternate timeline created in Avengers: Endgame, after the god of mischief steals the Tesseract as the Avengers' time-heist plan goes awry. The real Loki we know tragically met his fate at the hands of Thanos during the first act of Avengers: Infinity War, as his brother Thor watched helplessly, vowing vengeance.

In Marvel's latest trailer for Loki, which comes to Disney+ on June 11, we see Loki in the Time Variance Authority's custody, about to be told the dire consequences of his time manipulation. However, some believe this trailer is hiding a very big clue about who might play a role in the series. A "blink and you miss it" shot in the trailer, according to some fans, shows a Skrull dressed in a tracksuit and standing at a reception desk.

While the Skrulls are one of the most mysterious creatures in the MCU and could show up in the series, we still don't know for sure if they'll be appearing.

Where have we seen the Skrulls before?

Starting with their debut in 2018's Captain Marvel, Skrulls have become a significant part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers herself vows to help the Skrulls reunite and rebuild their home, after their oppression at the hands of the Kree.

The Skrulls, known for their shape-shifting abilities, show up again in Spider-Man: Far From Home. The film shocked audiences when it was revealed the Nick Fury and Maria Hill seen the film were actually Skrulls in disguise. However, based on Far From Home's post-credit scene, it appears the real Nick Fury has been living in space among the Skrulls. (The real Maria Hill's location is still unknown.)

We see a Skrull again in the WandaVision finale post-credits scene, disguised as an FBI agent, to alert Monica Rambeau that someone "up" needs her help. Most people believe this someone to be Nick Fury, especially due to Rambeau's connection to Captain Marvel, whom Fury also worked with very closely.

Though we don't know why Skrulls are on Earth communicating with Avengers, it's clear the alien race will be playing a big role in the Phase Four of the MCU. We will just have to wait until June to see if they'll be making their next MCU appearance in Loki.
