Deadpool 2: Ryan Reynolds Thanks Fans With Hilarious Golden Girls Video
Ryan Reynolds has one thing to say to Deadpool 2 fans: Thank you for being a friend.
The man behind the Merc with a Mouth headed over to Instagram on Friday, one week following the launch of Deadpool 2, to express his sincere gratitude for moviegoers flocking to see the raunchy R-rated sequel. But Reynolds didn't go the simple route by writing up a quick letter of thanks in the notes app on his phone, taking a screenshot, and uploading it to his Instagram page; no, he did something a little extra by sharing a hilarious and heartfelt video.
Clips of Deadpool, Cable (Josh Brolin), and Domino (Zazie Beetz) are stitched together to create a Deadpool 2 version of the iconic opening credits of The Golden Girls — one of Wade Wilson's most favorite television series of all time. (He loves the show so much, he even engraved Dorothy Zbornak actress Bea Arthur's name into the hilt of his twin katanas.)
The clip keeps things within the Deadpool 2 canon, using the film's characters' real names in their credits: Wade Wilson as Deadpool, Nathan Summers as Cable, Neena Thurman as Domino, Piotr Nikolayevich Rasputin as Colossus (actually played by Stefan Kapičić), Althea as Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), Dopinder as Dopinder (Saran Koni), Ellie Phimister as Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), and Peter W. (Rob Delaney) as himself.
Deadpool 2 and The Golden Girls coming together is a crossover ambitious enough to rival Avengers: Infinity War, and we have a feeling OG Golden Girl Betty White would get a kick out of this.
