Deadpool Teams Up With Celine Dion For Zany Deadpool 2 Music Video

In 20th Century Fox's marketing for Deadpool 2, no fourth wall can go unbroken and nothing can be left sacred — not even the Canadian songstress who gifted the world "My Heart Will Go On."

The latest bit of Deadpool 2 promotion comes in a most unexpected (but hilariously zany) form: a music video for Celine Dion's new single "Ashes," an actual track featured on the forthcoming film's soundtrack. That's right: everyone's favorite Canadians — Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth and the iconic diva Dion — have officially collaborated.

Shown above, the music video hit the internet on Thursday morning following its premiere on Good Morning America. It opens on Dion, standing solemnly on a stage, a single beam of light illuminating her as she sings, "What's left to say/ these prayers ain't workin' anymore/ Every word shot down in flames." Suddenly, as if he materializes out of the thin air in the vacant theater, Deadpool appears in bursts between the dulcet tones of Dion's unmistakable voice.

The strangest the music video, an undeniable callback to the popular 1990s promotional tool that used superstar-backed songs to help sell movie tickets, ever gets is in the middle, when Deadpool slips on a pair of heels and struts his stuff across the stage. Giving it his all, the leather-clad anti-hero performs an interpretive dance fit with the all flair and flourishes one would hope to see from him, while Dion belts in the tune's refrain, "Let beauty come out of ashes." This is a clear reference to Deadpool's tragic past, which left him scarred after he sustained burns from a fire. Let's be real, it's hard to argue that the foulmouthed vigilante isn't one of the most beautiful things to rise up from the ashes, right?

Ahead of its release, Good Morning America's Lara Spencer described the music video, "They told us that Deadpool himself wrote Celine a letter asking if she would like to be part of his 'masterpiece,' and after she heard 30 seconds of the song, she was sold." Reynolds later took to Twitter to share the video with the world, embedding it in a tweet with the caption, "Showtime, Mama."

Here's the "official" synopsis for Deadpool 2: "After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Miami's hottest bartender, while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover."

While Celine Dion isn't expected to make an appearance in the Deadpool sequel, fans will see Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Terry Crews as Bedlam, Julian Dennison as Russell, Lewis Tan as Shatterstar, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Jack Kesy as Black Tom Cassidy, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Bill Skarsgård as Zeitgeist, and Rob Delaney as Peter. Shioli Kutsuna and Eddie Marsan round out the cast.

Deadpool 2 will dance its way into theaters on May 18.
