  • AJ Newcomb is a feature writer for Looper who loves all things storytelling from German Expressionism to loud early 2000s rom-coms.
  • He's endlessly passionate about presenting old ideas in new ways and constantly seeks out interesting independent work.
  • He'll watch almost anything and believes Roger Ebert's adage: it's not what a film is about, it's how a film is about it.

AJ has been freelancing for a little over a year. Before writing for Looper, he worked as a staff writer for "The Weekender," the essay, art, and fiction section of Berkeley's student run newspaper, "The Daily Californian." He also wrote pieces for a blog called "The Dive Collective" under a column titled "The Couch Philosopher."

AJ has a bachelor's degree of English from the University of California Berkeley.
