Game Of Thrones Featurette Teases Special Effects In Season 7

It takes more than help from a mystic to bring dragons to life in the real world.

HBO released a new video featurette that takes us behind the visual effects of the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones, and it offers a glimpse at some of the big battle sequences on the horizon. Special effects supervisor Sam Conway speaks about what goes into making the show, which involves a lot of smoke, wind, and an increasing amount of pyrotechnics as Dany's dragons just keep getting bigger.

"It's an ever-evolving creative journey," Conway said. "It's massive."

Despite the fact that season 7 will be three episodes shorter than usual, producers and cast members have said it will be much more action-packed than ever before. It will also include some of the longest episodes in the show's history, which should help balance things some.

"This season is really different than any other season because it's accelerating toward the end," said Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow. "A lot of stuff collides and happens much much quicker than you're used to seeing on Thrones... it's so different than what everybody is used to. It's quite exciting."

Season 7 premieres July 16. In the meantime, take a look at the untold truth of Game of Thrones.
