The Cobra Kai Character You Are Based On Your Zodiac Sign

"Cobra Kai" is, among other things, a show about relationships. From the familial and the platonic to the romantic and rivalrous, the series' story is formed out of the web of connections between its many different characters. It's a series about healing, growing, and allowing yourself to learn from people you might usually ignore. Of course, it's also a show about teenagers doing karate while a bunch of '80s references play in montage in the background.

In its loyalty to the original "Karate Kid" movies, "Cobra Kai" has established a compelling, multigenerational cast composed equal parts of newcomers and classic characters from the franchise's past. Fan favorites like Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and John Kreese (Martin Kove) are joined by a younger generation including karate prodigy Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), Sam LaRusso (Mary Mouser), Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan), and Tory Nichols (Peyton List). It's a great blend that has made "Cobra Kai" a hit with both longtime fans of the franchise and brand new viewers alike.

Each character in "Cobra Kai" is relatable in their own way, and they cover a vast range of personalities, struggles, desires, and flaws. With that in mind, here's a breakdown of which "Cobra Kai" character you most closely resemble, based on your zodiac sign.

Aries: Miguel Diaz

One of the series' two core protagonists, Miguel has main character energy for days. He's a brave and loyal person, fiercely protective of those he cares about, and rarely seen to back down from a fight. More importantly, Miguel approaches most situations with an unyielding optimism. He has had missteps, occasionally given into some more aggressive and bullheaded tendencies, and certainly faced his share of hardships, but none of that has ever kept him down for long.

Those born between March 21 and April 19, who wear the sign of Aries, will find a lot that's relatable about Miguel's journey in "Cobra Kai." That Aries urge to leap into action defending what you believe to be right often comes at the expense of thinking things through, which is definitely true for Miguel. But like so many who wear the fire sign, he won't be deterred for long. Standing back up confidently and facing the next challenge head-on is all part of what makes Miguel Miguel.

Taurus: Samantha LaRusso

It makes sense that the elder child of Daniel LaRusso — a man trained for years by Mr. Miyagi himself — would possess similar values of hard work, dedication, and an appreciation for peace and nature. As those born between April 20 and May 20 know, these are also trademark qualities of the Taurus. An Earth sign ruled by Venus, Taurus embodies many of the qualities associated with its symbol, the bull. Those include dedication and consistency in behavior to the point of stubbornness, as well as an appreciation for serenity, peace, and quiet.

All of that is summed up in Sam, whose stubbornness has put her in sticky situations several times over the course of "Cobra Kai." Through it all, however, Sam has never lost her desire to improve through slow, steady, disciplined work. She enjoys time alone, but also values her relationships and will fight to defend them. As one of the most skilled, experienced karate practitioners among the younger cast of "Cobra Kai," Sam LaRusso is a fierce competitor who can go toe-to-toe with almost any opponent. Her greatest foe, more often than not, is her own bull-headedness.

Gemini: Yasmine

While not one of the central characters in "Cobra Kai," Yasmine fills a distinct niche in the story of the show — a Gemini-shaped niche, specifically. Though she doesn't know karate, Yasmine is more than a formidable force with her sharp tongue, quick wit, and argumentative spirit. That may all be pretty familiar for those born between May 21 and June 20. Yasmine embodies the first air sign of the zodiac in numerous ways throughout the show, and while she starts as more of a clear-cut villain and bully, she transforms into a far more sympathetic, fully-formed character as the series progresses.

Yasmine can be brutal in her candidness, but it will never be said that she doesn't speak her mind honestly. She has defense mechanisms to keep herself from being hurt, but deeper down she seems to have a much greater capacity for concern and self-reflection. It's almost as if Yasmine has two people within her: the one she lets the world see, and the one she keeps hidden away. With only one zodiac sign being represented by the symbol of two twins, Yasmine seems like a perfect fit as a Gemini.

Cancer: Robby Keene

Robby Keene is a complicated character. He had a difficult childhood with an absent father, a neglectful mother, and an obligation to look out for himself from a very young age. For all those reasons, he's naturally defensive –- accustomed to taking beatings but strong enough to endure them. He's also a deeply sensitive and emotionally-attuned person, despite occasionally giving in to his more aggressive instincts when matters of honor or self-preservation are on the line.

In terms of the zodiac, Robby fits most cleanly under the sign of Cancer, which applies to those born between June 21 and July 22. This water sign is all about loyalty, sensitivity, and self-care. Symbolized by the crab, Cancers often feel the need to retreat into emotional shells, but that doesn't stop them from standing up for themselves or their loved ones, just as Robby never backs down from a fight. Like many Cancers, Robby takes some time to get to know, and his fear of being hurt has led him down some dark paths in the story of "Cobra Kai." However, he's generally continued to grow and heal as the show has continued, embodying the spirit of the zodiac's first water sign.

Leo: John Kreese

Proud. Loud. Unflinching. These are words that aptly describe longtime "Karate Kid" villain John Kreese, who returns in "Cobra Kai" to stir up more chaos. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Kreese has a stern, aggressive, and often straight-up abusive philosophy when it comes to fighting, training, and life at large. The more extreme elements of that personality don't necessarily reflect most Leos — those born from July 23 to August 22 — but the general gist of the Kreese character certainly does.

Regardless of what you think of his leadership style, there's no questioning that Kreese is a natural leader, prone to taking charge and instilling his values wherever he winds up. In true Leo fashion, Kreese values his own judgment and advancement over that of anyone else, but that doesn't mean he's devoid of loyalty. Quite the contrary, Kreese has shown authentic care for those under his tutelage, such as Johnny and Tory Nichols. However, that care is often twisted in darker ways, because of Kreese's more manipulative tendencies.

Virgo: Demetri

The Earth sign Virgo (August 23 to September 22) is best represented in "Cobra Kai" by Demetri — the shy, conflict-adverse teen who gains confidence by practicing karate at the Miyagi-Do dojo. An intensely smart and analytical person, Demetri lacks courage in the early episodes of the series and relies heavily on self-deprecation. As he trains, however, more of Demetri's inherent skills become apparent –- quick-thinking, ingenuity, logic, and hard work.

Is he the most driven fighter in "Cobra Kai?" No. Is he the most talented? Also no. But what Demetri might lack in natural ability and pure dedication, he more than makes up for with his unique way of seeing the world. Though he often prioritizes his own wellbeing, Demetri is nonetheless a loyal, trustworthy friend and a great person for anyone to have in their corner. He can be a bit self-serious at times, but that ultimately helps him out when things get hard or when his back is against the wall. Demetri has grown leaps and bounds since the start of "Cobra Kai," and he's done it all without sacrificing the core essence of who he is.

Libra: Amanda LaRusso

Most of the characters in "Cobra Kai" like to fight. Amanda LaRusso — wife to Daniel and mother to Sam — does not. In a show littered with rivalries, riots, break-ins, and backstabbing, Amanda is perhaps the one character who sees these things for what they are: dangerous, oftentimes ridiculous distractions from the things that really matter. And for Amanda, what really matters is peace, family, harmony, and balance.

Of course, those are also all core tenets of the air sign Libra, which covers birthdays from September 23 to August 22. Libras are often interested in establishing peace and equilibrium, above all else. They're naturally avoidant of conflict and violence, but that doesn't mean they won't do what's necessary to reestablish balance if it's disrupted. Amanda stands up to Kreese in "Cobra Kai" after he makes it clear his style of karate is a threat to her family, but she is generally a diplomat — bridging gaps and helping heal old wounds between Johnny and Daniel, among other things. Most of what the other characters can accomplish with violence, Amanda can accomplish simply by her intellect and sheer force of will.

Scorpio: Tory Nichols

Scorpio can be one of the most difficult zodiac signs to pin down because of its elusive nature. Ruling from October 23 to November 21, Scorpios can be just as brutally honest as they are secretive, and just as unyieldingly courageous as they are (at times) jealous and controlling. The water sign is a complicated mix of traits and emotional states, but Scorpio almost always manifests in fierce passion, intense awareness, and unstoppable dedication to personal goals.

Out of all the characters in "Cobra Kai," no one embodies the spirit of Scorpio as well as Tory Nichols. Tory has been both a loyal friend and a bitter enemy during her time on the show, displaying intense bouts of jealousy and a clear fear of vulnerability, while always growing stronger and planning for the next fight. In all scenarios, Tory is honest and fully herself, even though those qualities often take shape in aggressive and even vindictive tendencies. Up or down, good or bad, one thing's for sure: Tory will never lay down without a fight, and she's always ready for whatever might come next.

Sagittarius: Johnny Lawrence

Once the bully and villain of "The Karate Kid," Johnny Lawrence becomes the protagonist in "Cobra Kai." After hitting rock bottom, Johnny finds new purpose by becoming a karate instructor. His big ego, high emotions, and ambitiousness cause their fair share of problems, but over time Johnny starts to grow and heal as a result of the new experiences and perspectives he finds himself exposed to. He becomes a far more reflective and kindhearted person, albeit one who still promises more than he can deliver from time to time.

Those who wear the sign of Sagittarius (November 22 to December 2) may feel a lot of kinship with Johnny. He's a man of many fierce passions, some of which outshine his ability to execute on them, and he never hesitates to say exactly what he thinks about people, places, activities, or really anything at all. Though he was inhibited from achieving his potential earlier in life by toxic influences like Kreese and his stepfather, the Johnny of "Cobra Kai" is a man far more interested in learning, growing, and experiencing new things. Through it all, his intense fire sign energy continues to burn brightly.

Capricorn: Daniel LaRusso

The Daniel LaRusso in "Cobra Kai" shares a number of traits with his younger "Karate Kid" self, but he's also different in many ways. Becoming a husband and father, starting his own business, losing his own father figure when Mr. Miyagi died — all of these experiences shaped Daniel into a more focused, disciplined, and responsible person. He works hard to keep the different areas of his life in balance with one another, and he takes great pride in doing things the right way through diligence and routine. However, he still retains some of the more hotheaded tendencies from his younger years, such as his occasional brashness, his hesitancy to forgive old grievances, and his belief that he knows best in most situations.

Taken as a whole, Daniel's character fits nicely into the sign of Capricorn, which rules from December 22 to January 19. An earth sign, Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and represented by the sea goat — a mythical creature. Those born during the span of Capricorn's rule must often balance their natural talents of organization and perseverance with their instinct to trust themselves and their own judgment at the expense of all others. That's very much the struggle that Daniel faces throughout "Cobra Kai," and he comes out of it a much better father, a stronger leader, and a more balanced man overall.

Aquarius: Hawk

In the whole landscape of "Cobra Kai" characters, Hawk is a bit of an anomaly. Most of the cast falls into clear pairings which gives the show a natural parallelism — Robby and Miguel, Tory and Sam, Johnny and Daniel, and so on. That obviously doesn't apply to every character, but most one-off players in the story either have less significant arcs or are less central to the core plot. That includes characters like Kreese, Amanda, and Miguel's mother Carmen. It could be argued that Hawk and Demetri are parallels, and that's true in some ways, but really Hawk follows a fully unique character arc from anyone else in "Cobra Kai."

So, who is Hawk really? In a word, he's unflinching. He's someone who carefully crafts every aspect of his image to create a desired response. He's someone who wants to be the absolute best and will challenge anyone who questions his claim to that title. He's an intensely emotional person who acts out of passion far more than out of logic and reason. But beneath it all, Hawk is still someone with great humanity and sensitivity — someone who knows what it's like to be pushed around. All of that amounts to a character who can proudly wear the sign of Aquarius, which applies to those born between January 20 and February 18. Independent, innovative, and occasionally temperamental, Aquarians will stop at nothing to push beyond their own limitations, just like Hawk.

Pisces: Kumiko

Coming to the end of the zodiac with the Pisces sign, which rules from February 19 to March 20, one "Cobra Kai" character immediately jumps to mind: Kumiko. First introduced in "The Karate Kid Part II," Kumiko is an artist, dancer, a traveler, and a person deeply attuned to the emotional states of others. She cares deeply about people, especially those close to her, and she moves through the world with a unique charisma.

When Kumiko reunites with Daniel in "Cobra Kai" Season 3, she helps him reconnect with parts of himself he'd lost sight of. With empathy and wisdom — core qualities of a Pisces — she guides him back to the right path. It's a brief arc in the grand scheme of the Netflix series, but it's a hugely important and deeply touching one, reminding all viewers of the value of having a Pisces as a friend. Hopefully, "Cobra Kai" and "Karate Kid" fans haven't seen the last of Kumiko.
