Blindspot Renewed For Season 3

Blindspot will live to see another season. Deadline reports that NBC has renewed the Jaimie Alexander-starring show for a third season.

Created by Stargate Atlantis' Martin Gero, Blindspot stars Alexander as a mysterious Jane Doe who wakes up with no memory in Times Square to find her body covered in tattoos. She begins working with the FBI to uncover the conspiracy connected to the treasure map on her body. Sullivan Stapleton, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, Ashley Johnson, Ukweli Roach, Luke Mitchell, Michelle Hurd, and Archie Panjabi also star. The show has Arrow-verse creator Greg Berlanti behind it as an executive producer.

The show has fallen in the ratings this season, averaging 4.9 million viewers and a 1.0 in the key 18-49 demo. This is down 44 percent from its first season, where it aired after The Voice on Monday nights. (via TV By the Numbers) Still, the show has a strong fan base and Deadline reports that NBC is still making money off the low-rated series.

NBC recently renewed the majority of their Chicago-set series, ordering new seasons of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. (Chicago Justice is still up in the air.) They also handed down renewals to shows like The Good Place, Shades of Blue, Superstore, and Taken, along with giving a two season renewal to TV's breakout show of last season, This Is Us. However, not every show at the network has lived to see another day. They recently canceled fan favorite Timeless, along with Emerald City and the DC Comics comedy Powerless.

New series for next season at NBC include the Will and Grace revival, the Jason Katims high school musical theater drama Rise (formerly titled Drama High), the Anne Heche-starring military drama For God and Country, and the Glenn Howerton-starring Lorne Michaels/Seth Meyers comedy A.P. Bio.

While we anxiously wait for the fall TV season to pick up, plan your summer entertainment by seeing all of the movies that will blow you away in the next few months.
