Will There Be A Kissing Booth 4?

It all began with a secret crush and loads of angsty high school shenanigans, but Netflix's "The Kissing Booth" movies have proven a smash hit with streamers of every age. Adapted from Beth Reekles' young adult novels of the same name, the first "The Kissing Both" flick made its way to Netflix in 2018, telling the story of Elle Evans (Joey King) and her ongoing entanglements with the Flynn brothers: Noah (Jacob Elordi), whom she eventually begins dating, and Lee (Joel Courtney) her BFF.

As is often the case in the teen rom-com, complicated feelings, uncertain intentions, and grandiose romantic gestures lead "The Kissing Booth" unapologetically into the realm of full-hearted melodrama. Ditto for the 2020 sequel, "The Kissing Booth 2," which found Elle and Noah struggling to make a long distance relationship work. As fans of "The Kissing Both" series know, the second film ended with a bit of a cliffhanger as Elle faced a major life choice in having to decide whether she would be going to Harvard to be with Noah, or heading off to Berkley to keep her promise to Lee.

Thankfully, fans didn't have to wait too long to find out what Elle decides, with the just released "The Kissing Booth 3" answering that question and many more. Of course, the third film ends with a cliffhanger of its own, and it's got fans of the trilogy wondering if a fourth film might be on the horizon. We're gonna go ahead and drop a SPOILER WARNING here.

The Kissing Booth 3 is likely the end of the saga

To understand why a fourth "The Kissing Booth" might happen, you need to know a few details from the third film. Primarily, you need to know Elle ultimately decides to go her own way in terms of her collegiate career, breaking up with Noah in the process. But the final moments of "The Kissing Booth 3" find the pair reconnecting years later, teasing they may give their romance another go.

So the obvious question becomes whether Netflix will continue their saga in another "The Kissing Booth" movie. As of this writing, there are no plans to continue "The Kissing Booth" narrative on Netflix. Nor does Beth Reekles have a new book in the series in the works. As it stands, star Joey King recently confirmed the end of the series telling Nerds of Color how upsetting it is "to say goodbye to a character you've been playing for this many years." Likewise, Reekles confirmed the end of the saga on her website stating, "This is all ten years in the making, ten years of Elle and Lee and Noah, and now... Now, it's all come to an end... It's the end of an era."

Does that mean we'll never see another "Kissing Booth" flick? Given the success of the trilogy, it's hard to imagine Netflix wouldn't want to continue the series somehow. But at the moment, "The Kissing Booth 3" will serve as a fond farewell to some true streaming friends.
