Zombieland: Double Tap Trailer Brings The Dysfunctional Makeshift Family Back Together

In the eloquent words of Woody Harrelson's Tallahassee, it's time to "nut up or shut up."

The first trailer for Zombieland: Double Tap has finally dropped, bringing back together the dysfunctional makeshift family fans haven't seen in almost a decade for another ass-kicking, zombie-killing adventure that reveals shocks after surprises that lead to, uh, a potential doppelgänger situation?

Ten years in the waiting, Double Tap is clearly making up for lost time and the trailer for the hotly anticipated sequel comes in guns a-blazing. We learn that Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone), Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) crossed the American heartland, slaying zombies with their many weapons and a multitude of special moves, to reach the nation's capital. With a swift kick of his booted foot, Tallahassee flings open the door to the White House, the gang's not-so-humble new abode. They crack jokes ("I think I woulda made a damn fine president," quips Tallahassee from the leather seat of the Oval Office) and celebrate Christmas together (Tallahassee even dresses up as Santa Claus and asks the others what they'd like for the holiday) while keeping a watchful eye out for another zombie invasion.

Though the Zombieland: Double Tap trailer is light on actual zombies, it's heavy on human survivors — which include the ditzy blonde with a Valley Girl accent named Madison (Zoey Deutch), whom Columbus meets while scoping out a Yankee Candle store; a marijuana-smoking hippy named Berkeley (Avan Jogia) whom Tallahassee hates but Little Rock is soon smitten with; and a tough-as-metal chick named Nevada (Rosario Dawson) who gives Tallahassee a run for his money.

When Little Rock heads off with Berkeley and his massive bag of Mary-Jane, Tallahassee, Columbus, and Wichita follow after her — presumably with Madison in tow. Along the way, they meet two currently nameless humans (or so we think) played by Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch. The Double Tap footage teases that they may not be normal survivors, as Wilson's character behaves freakishly like Tallahassee and Middleditch's character is the near spitting image of Columbus.

As far as trailers go, this one is just about perfect. It makes light of the fact that its core cast didn't exactly have studio executives banging down their doors and blowing up their phones to get them to join a project when they joined Zombieland, but now, 10 years later, three of them (Eisenberg, Breslin, and Harrelson) are Academy Award-nominees and one (Stone) is an Oscar-winner. It sets up the story without revealing too much (seriously, who are those doppelgängers?), and promises a whole lot of irreverent comedy to offset the high-octane battles we know are coming with the evolved zombies we've been hearing so much about. (Could the upgraded walkers be masquerading as lookalikes of actual human survivors, thus giving a whole new meaning to "Double Tap"? We can't say for sure.) Plus, the whole thing is set to AC/DC's 1980 track "Shoot to Thrill," which flawlessly sums up the riotously fun spirit of Zombieland: Double Tap

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, who helmed the 2009 original, Zombieland: Double Tap will hit theaters on October 18.
