New The Predator Trailer Features The Ultimate Predator, Plenty Of Action
The hunt has evolved — and so have 20th Century Fox's trailer-making abilities.
Less than two months after the studio rolled out the first official teaser for director Shane Black's The Predator, Fox unleashed a second peek at the forthcoming refresh, and it looks even better than what fans saw before.
Opening on Sterling K. Brown's character explaining that his job in acquisition requires him to catch anything that falls out of the sky, including and especially alien-warrior creatures that crash to Earth in huge ships, the new trailer features an up-close-and-personal look at the titular Predator — the "ultimate Predator" that's bigger, badder, and more brutal than ever.
We also see more of the mercenary-assassin team investigating the area where the many-fanged creature gutted and strung up its victim, and later learn that the monsters were apparently successful in their attempts at hybridization. By upgrading their genetic code on each new planet they visit and attempt to destroy, the space-conquering hunters have evolved. And with the help of the black ops' twisted experiments, the alien race has reached its peak form in the ultimate Predator, shown pummeling to a pulp a "normal" Predator of the size and stature fans are used to seeing.
For good measure, there's also a "your mom" joke mixed into the new footage. (Hey, it is a Shane Black film we're dealing with here.)
Alongside the trailer, Fox released a neon orange poster for the film, displayed below. The one-sheet shows the ultimate Predator's clawed hand holding the ripped-from-the-spine head of its smaller Predator counterpart.
Response to this new trailer for The Predator has been quite positive, much more so than reactions to the teaser were. Twitter user Anders Holmes wrote after watching the new footage, "I am strangely excited for this movie. Looks awesome. Can't wait." Another fan on Twitter, @SoufyanH_, shared a similar feeling of excitement: "Now that's more like it! I liked the teaser, but this full trailer is really awesome! I trust Shane Black with this film, amazing cast and looks like (most of the) humor will land. Really excited to see this!"
Shawn Nicholson perhaps best summed up the general movie-loving public's feelings about The Predator following the new trailer drop: "That new The Predator trailer sold me! Was nervous based in the first trailer but DAMN, I'm on board now! This looks like it'll be a fun, kick-ass ride with awesome action!"
The Predator not only includes a creepy killer villain and tons of action, but it also features a star-studded cast. Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Yvonne Strahovski (Dexter, The Handmaid's Tale), Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), and many more comprise a roster that help prove The Predator will be even better than we thought.
Prepare for a Predator-on-Predator battle when The Predator opens on September 14.
