Agents Of SHIELD Goes Full Sci-Fi In Otherworldly Teaser For Season 5
Agents of SHIELD is livening up its next season with some new faces, new places, and significantly less oxygen.
We've already been shown that the fifth season of Marvel Television's first series on ABC will be taking place in outer space, but now with this first footage from the upcoming season, we're able to see just how seriously they appear to be taking the concept. Which is to say: very seriously. They're really out there. This next season looks as outer space as Star Trek.
The teaser was released during the credits for the finale of Marvel's Inhumans, promising a different take on the outer space adventures that series alluded to with its secret city on the Moon. It also offers a look at some of the new characters that will be joining the cast in the new locale.
Agents of SHIELD may have been the series that first brought modern Marvel stories to TV, but it hasn't always been beloved or widely-watched, never penetrating the zeitgeist quite like Netflix's stable of shows, including Jessica Jones and Daredevil. But between season 4's supernatural take on the character of Ghost Rider and this season's excursion far beyond the stars, it looks like the producers behind Marvel's sometimes-unloved series are going for broke in trying new things to liven up the formula. Hey, when your program gets relegated to the Friday night death slot, you've really got nothing to lose, right? Onward to the stars!
Created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, Agents of SHIELD stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, and Natalia Cordova-Buckley in her first year as a full-fledged cast member.
Gas up the spaceship, everybody—Agents of SHIELD returns to ABC on Friday, December 1.
