The Chicago Fire Characters Fans Think Are The Next To Leave

Created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, the NBC drama "Chicago Fire" follows the personal and professional lives of the employees of the fictional Firehouse 51 within the Chicago Fire Department, including firefighters, paramedics, and other rescue personnel. The show kicks off with the death of Andrew Darden, a veteran firefighter and close friend to Lieutenant Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), both of whom blame the other for the death of Darden. Other major characters include Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), Senior Firefighter Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), Paramedic-in-Charge Gabriela "Gabby" Dawson (Monica Raymund), and Paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), amongst others.

Over the course of the show's run (it is currently in the midst of its 10th season and is already renewed for an 11th), the main cast has shifted every so often, with characters being written out of the show, either because of a tragic death or a logistical reason such as a move or a change of career path. Some of the most tragic deaths include Leslie Shay (Lauren German), who dies during an explosion, and Nadia Decotis (Stella Maeve), who is a victim of a serial killer.

On the other side of the coin, the most recent non-death-related exit was Casey, who moves to Oregon to take care of Darden's kids — which, consequently, took Spencer out of the show's main cast. In the midst of Season 10, fans are wondering which character will be the next to exit the show.

Fans suspect Brett, Mouch, or Stella will be leaving next

One "Chicago Fire" fan u/CJaneNorman took to Reddit to ask other fans who they thought would be the next major cast member to leave the series following Jesse Spencer's exit. One viewer, u/taylorcovet, speculated that it would likely be Mouch (Christian Stolte), for logistical reasons. They wrote, "Mouch especially is getting pretty old and out of shape. I'd like if he could peacefully retire and maybe make cameos here and there. It would be really sad to see him go, but I think he's the logical choice."

Another speculation is that Brett will be the next to leave, seeing as she and Casey are currently in a long-distance relationship. Redditor u/Tonysbiggestfirefan8 wrote, "I think that Brett is the next one to go leave, or that a long absence ... I just got the vibe that they are setting her up to leave." Another fan, u/adel831, noted this idea was likely right, despite their personal objections: "I wouldn't really enjoy watching without her but seeing Brett and Casey ride off into the Oregon sunset together would be a good ending for them both."

Meanwhile, a group of other fans has zeroed in on Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo), with u/MrWolfy25, writing, "Isn't Stella a lieutenant now, and that means she has to leave 51[?]" However, other fans pointed out that they likely wouldn't get rid of one of the few female leads of the show.

We'll just have to wait and see how the rest of the season plays out — including if any major players exit.
