The Ozark Season 4 Character Who Is The Worst According To Fans
With its final run of episodes on the horizon, the end of Netflix's hit crime drama "Ozark" is almost upon us. And even as the first half of the season brought shockingly definitive ends to certain storylines, it's safe to say the second half of the final season still has a lot of narrative hoops to jump through as it approaches what will likely be a bloody finale for Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney) Byrde.
As for those narrative threads, the Byrde's growing political ambitions, the increasingly dangerous rebellion of Jonah Byrde (Skylar Gaertner), the vengeful appetite of Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner), and the potentially deadly car crash teased in the Season 4 opener are all understandably high on the list. But even as the current season of "Ozark" put a handful of secondary plots to bed, it surprisingly opened new ones along the way. Per a recent Reddit thread, however, it seems one of those new plotlines introduced the "Ozark" fandom to a new character they aren't particularly impressed with.
Ozark fans have issues with new cartel heavy Javi Elizonndro
That character is Javi Elizonndro (Alfonso Herrera), who turned up in the Season 4 premiere and proceeded to wreak bloody havoc over every ensuing moment. In the end, he also took over as head of the Navarro Cartel from departing, now incarcerated boss Omar Navarro (Felix Solis). Meant as an obvious wildcard type of foil to everyone involved in the series' various narrative machinations, Javi clearly has not found many fans among the series' diehards.
In fact, per a recent Reddit thread, some fans think Javi's arrival has nearly ruined the entire series, with u/FirulaisHualde posting, "I swear to god Javi is the worst aspect of this season and maybe the whole series." According u/Dogzillas_Mom, Javi's introduction felt like an act of desperation from a creative team spinning their wheels. They wrote, "I call it Scrappy Doo Syndrome. It's when the writers run out of fresh ideas so they have to introduce a new character to keep the action going." Per u/toothpickjohn, the character is actually the new season's low point, "Yeah it's the one black mark on this season for me ... For a show which has done extremely well in building tension and smart plot lines, this just feels a bit forced maybe?"
To that point, Javi has sort of forced his way into the action completely out of the blue this season to play the role of the bull in the Byrde's fragile little china shop. While that approach is clearly rubbing some viewers the wrong way, Javi has at least one admirer in the "Ozark" fandom, with u/Individual_Baseball1 proclaiming, "Javi is keeping it interesting, fresh. Makes Omar seem like a big old softy." So, score one for Team Javi.
