Graham Phillips Cast As Veronica's Ex On Riverdale

Veronica's ex-boyfriend is going to shake things up on Riverdale next season. According to Entertainment WeeklyThe Good Wife's Graham Phillips has joined the show's upcoming sophomore outing as Nick St. Clair, the "wolf in sheep's clothing" ex of Camila Mendes' character.

Phillips is set to appear for two episodes, but his character's time on the show should definitely throw the residents of Riverdale for a loop. Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says that Nick, an old classmate of Veronica's from her time in New York, does not have a personality to match his "parent-pleasing" appearance.

Aguirre-Sacasa described him as "a hard-partying Lothario with dark desires and an unchecked sense of privilege," something which will put him at odds with Veronica's current boyfriend Archie (K.J. Apa). The EP also teases that his arrival could "even put some of our characters at risk."

Of course, one of Riverdale's most popular characters is already in a very risky situation, with the show set to reveal the aftermath of Fred's (Luke Perry) shooting in the season one finale. As teased in the season two trailer, there could be more to the attack than we realized, with Aguirre-Sacasa saying that the shooting will become "a huge mythic moment for Archie."

Phillips is not the only new cast member joining Riverdale's second season. Charles Melton is set to replace 13 Reasons Why's Ross Butler as Archie's rival Reggie Mantle, while Mark Consuelos joins as Veronica's previously jailed father Hiram Lodge. Other new cast members include Brit Morgan as the "Snake Charmer" Penny Peabody and Vanessa Morgan as the Southside Serpent member Toni Topaz.

Skeet Ulrich's FP Jones will also have a bigger role to play as FP, as he was promoted to series regular. Other cast members include Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Lili Reinhart, Casey Cott, Ashleigh Murray, Marison Nichols, Madchen Amick, and Natahlie Boltt. The show returns to The CW on Oct. 11; for now, see some of the actual crimes committee in the Archie comics.
