The Only Episode Of Chicago P.D. That Doesn't Feature Kevin Atwater

"Chicago P.D." is a long-running television show from NBC and is set in the world of the "One Chicago" franchise alongside "Chicago Med" and "Chicago Fire." Starring Jason Beghe, Jason Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, and Amy Morton, "Chicago P.D." has seen its main cast step up to the proverbial plate, and the trials and tribulations that they have gone through have brought them together as a tight-knit team.

Hawkins plays the role of Officer Kevin Atwater, a patrol and intelligence officer with the fictional Chicago Police Department Precinct. Known for his street smarts and rough childhood, Atwater acts as a cornerstone among his co-workers. As one of the original members of the show, Atwater has appeared in almost every single episode of the hit TV series, and only managed to be absent for a grand total of a singular installment. But which episode was sorely lacking in its intake of Atwater?

Officer Atwater does not appear in the episode Erin's Mom

The episode in question comes to us from Season 2, Episode 14, and is titled "Erin's Mom." This is the only episode that does not feature LaRoyce Hawkins (via IMDb), which is truly astounding considering how long the series has been on. "Chicago P.D." started airing in 2014, while the most recent season started in 2021. With well over 170 episodes, it is truly a massive undertaking to be present in all but one. Not only that, but the character of Atwater has also appeared in 12 crossover episodes on "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago Justice," per IMDb.

"Erin's Mom" is about a rental company that has some suspicion about a rather questionable customer. They seek the aid of the Chicago Police Department, which has the unintended side effect of aiding a long-running investigation into a robbery-homicide. However, the suspicious customer is not the only one that earns the attention of the police department, and certain events come to light that makes the original lead's motivation untrustworthy.

Still, it is truly astounding that this is the only episode that wasn't graced by Hawkins' Atwater.
