The Ozark Character Fans Think Will Die In Season 4 Part 2

Spoiler alert: Major details about "Ozark" Season 4, Part 1 ahead

Given how the 3rd season of the award-winning "Ozark" went out with a literal bang with the execution of Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) — the personal attorney to drug cartel kingpin Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) — it shouldn't come as a big surprise that more major characters died off in Part 1 of the 4th and final season of the Netflix crime drama. The question, of course, is, "Who's next?" in Season 4, Part 2, considering how the lives of so many principals in the cast have been in peril since the series kicked off in 2017.

Of course, those with the biggest targets on their backs are financial guru Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) and his wife, Wendy (Laura Linney). Along with their teen children, Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner), the Byrdes fled Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks as Marty was forced to launder money for Navarro's cartel as a manner of self-preservation. Since then, the tale has become more of a winding labyrinth for the Byrdes to navigate, as prominent politicians and natives to the Ozarks got caught up in the Byrdes' scheme. Ultimately, major characters — including the malevolent heroin producer Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) and her young boyfriend-turned-husband, Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan) — paid for it with their lives.

Darlene and Wyatt's deaths, however, were only two of the major happenings in the Part 1 finale of "Ozark." FBI Special Agent Maya Miller (Jessica Frances Dukes) — feeling betrayed over the government's deal to keep Navarro in power as an informant despite her efforts to get rid of him — broke ranks and arrested the drug kingpin, creating a whole new mess with the Byrdes to deal with. On top of that, the Byrdes' on-again, off-again partner — the volatile Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) — learns Omar Navarro's unstable nephew, Javi Elizonndro (Alfonso Herrera), killed her cousin Wyatt and Darlene, and the odds of her surviving her haphazard retaliation against him are slim.

Fans on Reddit think Maya's bust of Navarro sealed her fate

The tantalizing plot developments in the seven-episode first half of "Ozark" Season 4 naturally has fans buzzing about what's to come in Part 2, including speculation over which major character is sure to die when the series wraps up sometime in 2022 with seven more episodes.

Surprisingly, Reddit users in the "Ozark" Season 4 Episode 7 discussion thread don't name Marty or Wendy as a doomed character in the upcoming final half of the series, even though they were inches away from death with the shooting of Helen Pierce at the end of Season 3. Of course, Helen was the intended target in the execution, but it's not going out on a limb to suggest that the killing served as a warning shot for the Byrdes to stay in line. Another thing to consider is the ominous flash-forward car crash scene involving the Byrdes, which opened season 4.

Instead, users in the Reddit thread seem to think that when the other shoe drops in Season 4, Part 2, Maya will not survive the wrath of the cartel. The most popular comment as of this writing, from last_resort25, reads, "no way maya miller survives part 2, that was really dumb of her." This post, which has 616 upvotes, refers to her very public bust of Navarro. Another popular comment from pacmanlad0607, speculating that Maya's "self-righteous stunt" will cost her, has garnered 366 upvotes so far.

Whether Maya lives or dies (if she dies, the tragedy will be compounded by the fact that she just gave birth to a son), fans shouldn't be surprised if more than one principal character perishes as "Ozark" draws to a close. As the series has proven time and again, no one truly comes out clean in the Byrdes' deadly game of money-laundering.
