Cat Grant Won't Be A Series Regular On Supergirl Season 3

Calista Flockhart's Cat Grant may have returned to help Kara out during Supergirl's dramatic second season finale, but that doesn't mean she'll be sticking around for season 3. TVLine reports that Flockhart won't be a regular for season 3, but could potentially make guest starring appearances if scheduling works out, as she did for season 2.

Flockhart left the show after the first season, as production moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver with the show's move to The CW. Her character appeared in the first two episodes of the second season before announcing that she was leaving CatCo to find a new challenge; she returned for the last two episodes of the season to assist Kara in her battle against Rhea.

Most fans didn't expect Cat to return for good, but some got their hopes up after her name was listed as a series regular in a press release detailing Supergirl's third season. However, TVLine has confirmed that that was an error and that Flockhart is not, in fact, returning for good.

There will be some other new faces in National City come season three, though. The outlet also reports that the show is currently casting for their season three villain Reign, teased in the season two finale, who will be a big part of the upcoming outing, possibly appearing in even a dozen episodes.

Supergirl returns for season three in the fall, where it will be paired with new military drama Valor on Monday nights. While we wait for the show to fly back to the small screen, see the insane history of Supergirl.
