Pierce Brosnan Says He Won't Play Cable In Deadpool 2

You can rule out another name as Cable: Pierce Brosnan said that rumors that he's playing the character in Deadpool 2 are "fabricated."

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Brosnan talked about the photo of him, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds that started the rumors, saying that the three were just waiting for a plane and decided to take a picture together. It happened to go viral, spurning talk that he was with the two Marvel heroes because he would be joining them as Cable. However, Brosnan said that "nothing has come my way yet." Still, he said, if the studio is interested, they know where to find him.

A recent report said that Man of Steel star Michael Shannon is at the top of a shortlist that also includes Stranger Things' David Harbour to play the character. However, director David Leitch has noted that that's not a done deal yet, saying that the studio is "doing the due diligence to go through the list." Other names attached have included everyone from Brad Pitt and Kyle Chandler to Nathan Fillion and Keira Knightley, so Brosnan is certainly not the only star to get caught up in the Cable rumor mill.

We should know who will play Cable soon, as Deadpool 2 is expected to begin filming at some point this summer ahead of a 2018 release. In the meantime, find out who we want to play Cable and some of the pitfalls that the movie has to avoid.
