When Will Riverdale Season 5 Be On Netflix?

Fans of "Riverdale" get put through an emotional wringer on a regular basis. They've seen the beloved stable of Archie Comics characters, once content to experience family fun adventures like taking part in hot dog eating contests or teaming up with Gene Simmons and the Punisher, forced through a Lynchian horrorscape of thrills, chills, and "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" homages.

So it seems unfair that viewers in the United States have to suffer the further emotional turmoil of having to wait, sometimes days at a time, to watch and rewatch new seasons of the hit CW series on Netflix. Rubbing salt in the wound is the fact that the fifth season of "Riverdale" was already rocked by delays thanks to the worldwide, two-year-long root canal that is 2020 and 2021. It's now been over a year since Netflix subscribers feasted their peepers on fresh goings-on in the foggiest high school in America — season four hit the streaming service stateside in May of 2020.

The question: How long until fans can expect to see new episodes of "Riverdale" on Netflix? The answer: Probably not for a while.

Riverdale fans will have to wait for the wicked little town to return to Netflix

The traditional approach to releasing "Riverdale" episodes on Netflix has involved making the show available to stream a week after its finale airs. Season four hit the streaming service on May 14, 2020, following its CW bow on May 6.

Currently, the fifth season's 19-episode run is slated to end at the end of September or beginning of October, which would put the season on Netflix just in time for the spookiest time of the year. No official word has come down yet, but we can expect confirmation before the tail end of September. Meanwhile, international viewers can still check out the show on Netflix shortly after episodes air, the lucky so-and-so's.

The good news is that fans won't have to wait long after the show hits streaming to get back in on the "Riverdale" action. The show is scheduled to start airing its sixth season on November 16, 2021, switching from Wednesdays to Tuesdays.
