See Henry Cavill And Nicholas Hoult In The First Trailer For Netflix's Sand Castle
Nicholas Hoult does not want to go to war in the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix drama Sand Castle.
Hoult stars in the movie, which is set in 2003, as Private Matt Ocre, who, along with a number of other soldiers, is ordered to the outskirts of Baqubah to repair a water pumping station damaged by U.S. bombs during the Iraq War. However, according to the film's synopsis, the mission doesn't go as planned, with Ocre realizing that, "in an atmosphere where resentment and anger fester, trying to win the hearts and minds of the locals is a task fraught with danger."
"It's here, in the streets, squares and schools that he discovers the true cost of war," the synopsis teases.
Starring alongside Hoult is Superman Henry Cavill, who will play the special forces captain running the operation, and future Spider-Man: Homecoming star Logan Marshall-Green, who plays the leader of the platoon. Glen Powell, Beau Knapp, Neil Brown Jr., Parker Sawyers, Sam Spruell, Sammy Sheik, and Tommy Flanagan also appear. The film was directed by Fernando Coimbra (A Wolf at the Door) from a script by Chris Roessner, who wrote the project based on his own personal experience.
Sand Castle will hit Netflix on April 21. Netflix has a number of other high-profile projects set to be released soon, including the Brad Pitt-starring War Machine, David Fincher's Mindhunter, and the Alison Brie wrestling comedy GLOW.
