First Look At Rick And Morty Season 4 Revealed At SDCC 2019

Ready for a look at Rick and Morty season 4?

Of course you are. We've all been waiting for a sneak peek, and fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 got one today — shortly before Adult Swim thankfully saw fit to release it to its YouTube Channel. The clip is every bit as hilarious as we'd expected, and it sees Morty taking on a bit more of an authoritative role than is typical of him.

In it, Morty and Jerry are dealing with an alien named Glootie, who looks a bit like — well, we're not going to spell it out for you. The alien is apparently in the business of mobile apps, and it seems as if Jerry is having a bit of trouble with his.

As it opens, Morty is sitting with his head in his hands in a state extreme frustration as Jerry sighs heavily, seeming to concede defeat. "Okay, Glootie, take the app down," he says, but of course, nothing is ever that simple in the world(s) of Rick and Morty. "Cannot take it down," Glootie says. "It's your app. I'm just an intern."

At this point, Morty completely loses it, smashing a computer and a bookcase in a fit of pure rage. "Uh, that's not how apps work," Glootie protests, whereupon Morty seizes the thing by its space lapels and shouts, "Then make it how it works!" He begins violently shaking and slapping Glootie as the alien stammers, "This isn't how making things work works!"

"Get it off the server!" Morty shouts. "You think we're stupid, but we're not! We know apps have something to do with servers!" (Morty's face gives away that he's basically pulling this whole act out of his rear end.) "The server's on the mothership!" Glootie says. He then growls in sinister fashion that the mothership is "coming..." prompting Jerry to tell Morty to "Shake him more... that was working!" Morty resumes his shaking and shouting, but suddenly, an ominous beeping noise — which will be familiar to anyone who has seen Predator — begins emanating from Glootie's shirt pocket.

Knowing what must be coming next, Morty and Jerry dive into the hallway, assuming a "duck and cover" position — but then, nothing. They slowly look over their shoulder to see Glootie attempting to escape through a window — to no avail, as the two quickly haul him back inside.

"Okay! Okay! Don't hurt me!" Glootie says, as Jerry retrieves the source of the noise — Glootie's phone, which is running an Ominous Beeping app. "You can't stay mad at a guy with this kind of talent," Jerry says, to which Morty responds, "Dad, you can and you have to!" End of clip.

We can't wait to see the exact nature of the app causing all of the trouble, because it has Morty absolutely tied in knots. Also, it seems a little odd that Rick is nowhere to be seen in this clip, leaving Morty to deal with whatever danger the alien app (which Jerry almost certainly obliviously downloaded in search of something far more trivial) poses.

Sure, it's painfully brief, but the first look we've gotten at the long-awaited fourth season of Rick and Morty has us (at least temporarily) satisfied. There's sure to be much more to come out of the show's panel, so stay with us, as we'll continue to keep you updated on all of the wild goings-on at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 over the weekend.
