Bright, Bold Captain Marvel Poster Unveiled Ahead Of Second Trailer

Higher, further, faster, more.

That's the mindset Marvel clearly holds in promoting Captain Marvel, as the studio unveiled an electric new poster for the Brie Larson-led film that has sufficiently knocked fans' socks off their feet, their expectations out of the water, and their eyes straight out of their heads.

The one-sheet, uploaded to the official Marvel Studios Twitter account on Sunday, December 2, features Larson's half-Kree, half-human Carol Danvers suited up as Captain Marvel in her classic, as-seen-in-the-comics Captain Marvel suit that shines in red, gold, and blue. Behind her, the sky is split in two shades — the lefthand side is blue, the right red — and features fighter jets and alien ships zipping through the clouds. (Possibly a nod to her dual nature, hmm?) Her body radiates with energy, and her blonde locks look like bolts of lightning shooting out from her head — which is, we must admit, extremely badass.

Although it's certainly enough to boost hype for the '90s-set superhero standalone, and fits right in with the colorful posters previously released for Avengers: Infinity War and Thor: Ragnarok, the Captain Marvel poster doesn't have much else going on in it besides one awesome looking Carol Danvers. Its primary focus is, understandably, its title hero, who looks directly at the camera with a determined look on her face.

What the poster represents, however, is arguably even more exciting than the thing itself. When sharing the one-sheet with the world over the weekend, Marvel confirmed that the full-length trailer for Captain Marvel will air during ESPN's Monday Night Football on Monday, December 3. The game between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles kicks off at 8:15pm ET, but there's no telling when exactly the new Captain Marvel footage will make its way on screen. By releasing a trailer smack in the middle of a football match, Marvel is taking a page from its parent company's book: over the Thanksgiving weekend, Disney dropped the first teaser for the Lion King remake.

After Marvel unleashes the second Captain Marvel trailer, which comes just a few months after fans went wild over the first official trailer back in September, rumor has it that the studio will finally unveil the first look at Avengers 4. We stress that these are rumblings in the back channels of the industry, and while some reputable sources have stated that we'll get to see footage from the Infinity War follow-up on Wednesday, December 5, neither Disney nor Marvel have confirmed that this is happening. Either way, this week is going to be a massive one for Marvel fans out there. So strap in, guys, we've got a big storm coming.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck — and also starring Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Ben Mendelsohn, and more – Captain Marvel will soar into theaters on March 8, 2019.
