FBI: International Season 2 - What We Know So Far
The CBS series "FBI" made a major splash upon its premiere in 2018. Co-created by Dick Wolf, who is also the mastermind behind the "Law & Order" franchise and the "One Chicago" set of shows, the series became his third franchise, with two spin-offs that soon emerged.
The latest addition to the franchise was "FBI: International." With the other two series focusing on crimes within the U.S., "FBI: International" focused on crimes against Americans that were committed outside the country, focusing on the Bureau's International Division Fly team as they worked with local authorities around the world. Characters from both "FBI" and "FBI: Most Wanted" made guest appearances during the show's first season, alongside other notable performers like Elizabeth Mitchell.
With the show already renewed for two more seasons, the first season ended with the team looking into who shot down a private jet with American citizens over Europe. This is what we know so far about Season 2 of "FBI: International," which premiered on September 20, 2022.
Who is in the cast for FBI: International Season 2?
Most of the main cast returns for the show's 2nd season. That includes Luke Kleintank, who plays Agent Scott Forrester and the leader of the team, as well as Carter Redwood, who plays Agent Andre Raines, Vinessa Vidotto, who plays Agent Cameron Vo, and Heida Reed, who plays Agent Jamie Kellett.
The one cast member who does not return is Christiane Paul, as her character, Europol Agent Katrin Jaeger, ended Season 1 with a promotion that took her out of working with the team. Stepping in to replace her will be Europol Agent Megan "Smitty" Garretson, played by Eva-Jane Willis (via TVLine). Tank the Dog will also be returning for Season 2.
It is also likely that characters from "FBI" and "FBI: Most Wanted" will continue to cross over with the show, and while it has yet to be confirmed, there remains a possibility that Angela Cassidy, Agent Forrester's mother played by Elizabeth Mitchell, will also return. As a spy whose true allegiance remains unknown, the show is likely to continue to develop the relationship between the two individuals, while Agent Forrester continues to process being abandoned by his mother.
What is the plot for FBI: International Season 2?
The 2nd season of "FBI: International" will continue its focus on the team's attempts to protect Americans or find their killers in locations outside the U.S. The season premiere sees the team end up in Paris, investigating the death of an American detective who was looking into the sale of illegal weapons by an American manufacturer. The episode is titled "Unburdened" (per TV Insider).
According to Film New Europe, the cast was also spotted shooting scenes in Pula, Croatia, for the show's 2nd season. This is a particularly interesting development, as the show's pilot episode was set in Zagreb, Croatia. This hints at the possibility of a new case in the 2nd season tying into the sex trafficking and arms trafficking ring whose leader, Colin Kent (Oded Fehr), was arrested to kick off the series.
There is also sure to be some friction as the new Europol Agents adjust to the team and how they do things. How "Smitty" Garretson fits in with the team remains to be seen.
