Get Your First Look At Lennie James On The Set Of Fear The Walking Dead

Lennie James' buzzed-about crossover has just begun.

The November 26 episode of Talking Dead revealed that James' character Morgan Jones will shift from one post-apocalyptic horror series to another, making the jump from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead. Shortly after, sources close to Entertainment Weekly indicated that James' Morgan will become a series regular on Fear's upcoming fourth season.

Now, AMC has treated hyped-up fans to an exclusive first look at James on the Fear the Walking Dead set in Austin, Texas. The network hosted a live video on Facebook on Monday, James' first day on the show, that followed the actor as he joked that he's happy he's finally allowed to leave his hotel room now that the crossover secret is out. He also gave a heartfelt thanks to long-time Walking Dead fans.

"Thank you to all of you, all of the fans that have supported Morgan from the first season. All of you guys who kept asking the question, 'Where is Morgan, and when is he coming back?' And [those who] were happy when I did come back," said James in the clip. "I have had the most amazing time on The Walking Dead... but I'm really... looking forward to my time now on Fear the Walking Dead. I'm really looking forward to seeing where we're gonna take Morgan and what can happen to him and the different elements of his story that we can tell."

The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead creative Robert Kirkman announced the crossover event during New York Comic Con last month. Scott M. Gimple, the executive producer for both series, recently expressed his excitement about James joining the prequel series. "Lennie James' brilliance and humanity in his portrayal of Morgan Jones has been part of the DNA of what makes The Walking Dead so fantastic since the very beginning," he said (via Deadline). "Morgan's story will continue in this season of The Walking Dead, and then, it begins again in the upcoming season of Fear the Walking Dead, pushing the series–and the Walking Dead universe itself–into new directions and possibilities."

Andrew Chambliss and Ian Golberg, Fear the Walking Dead showrunners and executive producers, are also thrilled about James' character being the one to cross over. "As longtime fans of Lennie James and his portrayal of Morgan Jones, we are thrilled to have him join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead," the pair said in a statement (via Deadline). We look forward to working with Lennie to continue the journey Morgan began on The Walking Dead."

At the time of the crossover confirmation, James had this to say: "To take Morgan into this new realm and landscape, to see who he could now be, to see where his story could go in the world of Fear the Walking Dead is wonderfully exciting and I am really looking forward to the challenge. My time on The Walking Dead has been a blessing and one of the top working and personal experiences of my life. That cast and crew will have my love, my respect and my deep gratitude until the end of my days."

James joins Kim Dickens as Madison Clark, Frank Dillane as Nick Clark, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia Clark, Colman Domingo as Victor Strand, and Danay Garcia as Luciana Galvez. Garret Dillahunt and Jenna Elfman have also been cast as new series regulars.

Fear the Walking Dead season four does not yet have a premiere date.
