Fans Are Still Holding Out Hope For These MCU Characters To Show Up In She-Hulk
Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) aka She-Hulk is an exhausted Millennial who just wants to be a good lawyer. Unfortunately, no one who's name is followed by an "aka" ever gets what they want. The star of Marvel's most recent episodic Disney + adventure, which recently aired its first episode, has more than her fair share of struggles to contend with, and being an Enhanced Individual (the canonical term for anyone with powers) is only a fraction of her worries. Outside of the story, She-Hulk struggles against a certain amount of viewer stigma — she isn't the first Hulk, nor the first lawyer, nor even the first character to break the fourth wall, so a fraction of Marvel's demographic feels that she has yet to earn her place, and they feel compelled to publicly share their opinions.
Perhaps to distract such individuals, or simply to bring the rest of us joy, "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" promises a slew of cameos. As the series is more episodic than any previous Disney + production, that is to say that each episode is a self contained story, the format even lends itself to such appearances. Here's one of the biggest hopefuls that fans are looking to see.
Fans want the Punisher...
In a subreddit dedicated to Marvel Studios, u/IRIICIHAIRID asked, "since She-Hulk is an attorney for superhumans, which surprise supe[heroe]s do you think could appear or be introduced in the show? Punisher maybe? The Juggernaut? The Wrecking Crew?" As we already know, "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" features several confirmed star cameos. For instance, the series has so far confirmed appearances for Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) aka the Incredible Hulk, Wong (Benedict Wong) aka the Sorcerer Supreme, Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) aka the Abomination, and Matthew Murdock (Charlie Cox) aka Daredevil, but there's plenty of room left for other heroes — and villains — to feature.
Now, from this poster's question alone, the most likely cameo would be Frank Castle aka the Punisher. The reason for this is that Jon Bernthal's version of the character was a significant player in the Netflix branch of the MCU. Considering how Cox has already made the transition into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, the precedent is officially set for others, like Bernthal, to do the same. What's more, according to Forbes, Rosario Dawson, who portrayed Claire Temple for the NMCU (is there even a name for this?), accidentally leaked that Bernthal's portrayal of the Punisher would make the official crossover at some undetermined point in time. She backtracked, of course, but still. There's clearly a want.
It's worth noting that Juggernaut isn't outside the realm of possibility, considering how "Ms. Marvel" reimagined Kamala Kahn (Iman Vellani) aka Ms. Marvel as a mutant, but it seems less likely. That would be a sizeable uptick in mutant activity before the first "X-Men" movie in the MCU. As for the Wrecking Crew, well, maybe yes, maybe no. The villainous team hasn't even been hinted at during any of the recent reveals.
...but it's an unlikely team-up for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
Despite Jon Bernthal's comparative likelihood within the confines of the characters provided, he's still unlikely to make his first appearance in the MCU during "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law." Each episode of Marvel's most recent Disney + adventure follow a unique, self contained lawsuit that can be succinctly wrapped up in 30 minutes or less. The only way that would make sense for the Punisher is if Jennifer Walters was putting him behind bars. He is, after all, a self confessed murderer and, even taking into account how "Ms. Marvel" touched upon the rampant corruption within law enforcing agencies, it's unlikely that Frank Castle's particular line of vigilantism would be openly tolerated.
Instead, it's far more likely that he would make his first appearance during the confirmed Disney + "Daredevil" series, which will have 18 episodes worth of content. The two are known to butt heads at an ideological level, so it would make more sense for him to appear there, anyway. Of course, this could all be wrong and he might just get his own show or, worse, never appear at all. This is all speculation.
Regardless, we know this much. According to Comic Book Movie, head writer Jessica Gao said, "It's a lot of fun, a lot of cameos, and a lot of characters that have never existed in the MCU before that we're pulling out of the comic books," so, brace for the new, even if it's just new to the MCU.
