The Flash Star You Forgot Was In Malcolm In The Middle
"The Flash" has been a very successful superhero installment in The CW's "Arrowverse" of DC Comics-inspired shows. Beginning back in October of 2014, fans have witnessed Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) battle threats in Central City after first appearing in the "Arrow" episode "The Scientist" one year earlier. Throughout the show's run, Team Flash has changed over time, but on many occasions has consisted of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramone (Carlos Valdes), Iris West (Candice Patton), Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), and various versions of Dr. Harry Wells (Tom Cavanagh), among others. Together they have dealt with the effects of time travel, the multiverse, and deity-like threats that have challenged the well-being of those who live in Central City.
Many of the actors that portray Team Flash are not only experienced in the industry, but they have likely appeared on some other favorite shows for fans over the years. For example, before portraying Joe on "The Flash," Martin spent time as Detective Ed Green on "Law & Order" for almost 10 years (via IMDb). Gustin notably appeared on "Glee" for three years as the infamous Sebastian Smythe, Cavanagh was part of "Scrubs" as Dan Dorian for seven years, and Candice Patton even appeared in an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" back in 2010.
Needless to say, "The Flash" consistently features actors that you've likely seen before. That includes one star on the show who you probably forgot appeared on "Malcolm in the Middle" back in the early 2000s.
The Flash's Danielle Panabaker was Kathy McCulskey on Malcolm in the Middle
As it turns out, Danielle Panabaker's Caitlin Snow was once Kathy McCulskey on "Malcolm in the Middle" years earlier. Although she only appeared as a guest spot in the episode titled "Reese's Party" back in 2003, it was likely still an important appearance for the actress, as it was only her third acting credit in the industry at the time. Her character of Kathy was a love interest for Frankie Muniz's Malcolm during the episode, only to prefer another boy instead of him when Malcolm invited her over for the party his brother Reese (Justin Berfield) was throwing. Panabaker would go on to have other guest spots in notable series like "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Law & Order: SVU" before getting one of her first supporting roles in a feature with the Disney TV movie "Sky High."
Panabaker has also recently spent time in the director's chair on "The Flash," something that the actress has noted she feels "more confident about now," given her education from different directors on other shows that she has worked in the past (via ComicBook). It is likely that having an early experience on a popular sitcom like "Malcolm in the Middle" certainly assisted in the growth that Panabaker continues to have as an actress and director.
