Gal Gadot, Kumail Nanjiani To Host Saturday Night Live
Get ready for some back-to-back Saturday Night Live fun.
Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is set to host the October 7 episode of the long-standing NBC sketch comedy series, with The Big Sick actor Kumail Nanjiani taking hosting duties for the following week's episode on October 14. Gadot will share the spotlight with musical guest Sam Smith, the English singer-songwriter behind hits like "Stay with Me" and "Writing's on the Wall," and Nanjiani will be backed up by the musical stylings of pop rock musician P!nk.
NBC confirmed the news in a colorful Post-It Notes tweet on the official Saturday Night Live Twitter account.
Gadot and Nanjiani will follow Ryan Gosling, who was previously announced as the host of SNL's season 43 premiere on September 30. Jay-Z is locked in as musical guest for the series' return.
This marks Gadot's first SNL appearance, though the actress has little to fear, as she's coming off an incredibly strong summer performance in Wonder Woman, which has smashed records left and right. It also comes roughly six weeks before the November 17 launch of her next DC film, Justice League. Perhaps we'll see Gadot gussied up in her Wonder Woman costume in a sketch or two when her SNL episode rolls around.
Nanjiani will also make his SNL debut in the middle of October. The actor, who stars as Dinesh Chugtai on HBO's Silicon Valley, has had quite a successful summer as well. He wrote and co-starred The Big Sick, the critically acclaimed romantic comedy-drama that might have slipped under your radar this year.
Beyond the glittering hosts for its first three episodes, season 43 of SNL is also special for the fact that it will continue airing live in all four time zones for the entire season. The last four shows of season 42 kicked off this format trend, airing episodes coast-to-coast at 11:30 p.m. Eastern, 10:30 p.m. Central, 9:30 p.m. Mountain, and 8:30 p.m. Pacific.
While we count down the days until SNL returns for more laughs, find out the untold truth of the series.
