Who Plays Eva Dawson On Chicago P.D.?

Before Dick Wolf's "Chicago P.D." could earn itself the highest audience score in the entire Chicago One franchise (a whopping 91%, via Rotten Tomatoes), it had to establish itself as series and storyline in its own right. Created just two years after the debut of its parent show, "Chicago Fire," the series revolves around the Chicago police department's specially skilled Intelligence Unit, led by the baritone Jason Beghe's Hank Voight. Beghe's character was initially introduced to audiences in "Chicago Fire," as was long-time protagonist Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), who filled the role of the stock "flawed and hot tempered officer" on the series up until his Season 6 departure in 2019. Though "Seda exited Chicago P.D." off-screen, Season 7 provided viewers with an explanation: after developing an addiction to pain killers in the wake of an injury (a subplot that played out on-screen), Dawson checked into rehab with Voight's help, then ultimately moved to Puerto Rico to be closer to his family.

Dawson's family played an integral role in helping the series hit the ground running with a compelling, high stakes storyline. In the first few episodes of its inaugural season, Dawson's son Diego (Zach Garcia) is kidnapped by the henchman of a drug cartel in order to ensure the release of its leader, Pulpo (Arturo Del Puerto). The episodes also feature Dawson's ex-wife, Laura (America Olivo), and his daughter, Eva, who's heartbroken over her last interaction with her annoying little brother.

Filmmaker Maya Moravec first portrayed Eva Dawson

In four different episodes across Seasons 1 and 2 of the series, Dawson's daughter, Eva, is portrayed by up-and-comer Maya Moravec, a filmmaker and actor who would go on to produce several short films. Moravec's wesbite reveals that in 2021, the Tisch School of the Arts and Atlanta Acting School student established her own production company, One & Other Productions, which defines its focus as "producing stories which inclusively illuminate the significance of multicultural identities."

In front of the camera, Moravec also starred in Adam Dick's 2017 short film, "Teacher," and Brandon Laventure and Cameron Laventure's Screamfest-nominated horror short, "Out of Order," in 2020. The multi-talented "Chicago P.D." guest star also took to the stage in James Kolditz' production of Ike Holter's "Exit Strategy," and has been involved in a number of independent film projects and campaigns.

Though the slightly older version of Eva Dawson, who appears in Seasons 5 and 6, is portrayed by Ariana Chantelle Cordero, Moravec played a key role in helping the once-fledgling spin-off win over viewers and establish the backstory of one of its main protagonists and officers.
