The Worst Cobra Kai Scene According To Fans

"Cobra Kai," a 2018 YouTube-and-then-Netflix sequel series to the "Karate Kid" film trilogy, has run for four fist-flying, cast-reuniting seasons with a fifth on its way. It's an impressive feat, considering the over 30-year gap between the current project and the original source material. With that dissonant stretch, there are bound to be some growing pains, as the tone of "The Karate Kid" and the tone of "Cobra Kai" simply cannot be the exact same thing.

Even fans who adore "Cobra Kai" have noticed some places where the series has struggled. Despite the show sitting proudly at an 8.6 IMDb audience rating and a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, fans still aren't shy about voicing their opinions about what they believe is the show's single worst scene, and the options being proffered are extensive, to say the least. Naturally, the conversation is taking place on Reddit, as many potentially volatile debates are. We've taken a peek at their thoughts, and here's what we've found.

Fans are divided when it comes to choosing the worst scene in Cobra Kai

In a thread on r/cobrakai, Redditor u/TheCobrateKid gave their fellow "Cobra Kai" fans a prompt: "Throwing out the roller skating rink date scene since the level of hatred for that seems to be disproportionately high, what do you think is the worst scene in this otherwise close-to-flawless masterpiece?" The skating rink scene in question is from the Season 2 episode "Glory Of Love," and sees Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser), Robby Keene (Terry Buchanan), Tory Nichols (Peyton List), and Miguel Diaz (Xolo Mariduena) in a quadrangle of teenaged tension.

Despite u/TheCobratekid's certainty about the fandom's dislike for the scene, many of the commenters actually disagreed with their assessment and had other moments in mind. "My least favorite is probably when Johnny Lawrence tried to shut the door on Daniel at his apartment after admitting Robby and Samantha were inside," replied u/Nargon46, in reference to Season 2, Episode 10, titled "No Mercy." They felt the moment caused unnecessary drama in a way that didn't feel authentic.

However, the response that seemed to resonate with the most participants came from u/MOSSDoc22, who wrote, "Tory's scene in season 2 ... where she's punching the bag with Miguel and talking about how you need to fight for what's yours or whatever. I can't ever take that scene seriously." Several commentors agreed with u/MOSSDoc22's assessment of Tory's intense, but not entirely believable, monologue in the Season 2 episode "Take a Right." It caused u/dmreif to reply, "It feels very forced, just like the 'Toriguel' thing is," while u/TheCobrateKid themselves even acknowledged, "I remember wondering if we were supposed to take Tory seriously during that first scene ..."

But although that scene had the most traction, it seems that there's little consensus among fans about the worst "Cobra Kai" scene.
