The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Character You Are Based On Your Zodiac Sign

Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" has won an astonishing number of Emmys and captured audiences' imagination, transporting us back to New York's Upper West Side in the late 1950s. The series is absolutely hilarious because of the talented ensemble cast, keeping us glued to the screen for four seasons. If you haven't seen "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" yet, you can catch up on Amazon before the final season is released.

When Midge's (Rachel Brosnahan) husband, Joel Maisel (Michael Zegen), leaves her because he is having an affair with his secretary, Midge is flummoxed. Fueled by copious wine, Midge takes over the stage at The Gaslight, a club where Joel does stand-up comedy each week. She tells everyone about how her husband left her, gets arrested for obscenity and discovers she is both foul-mouthed and funny.

After meeting Lenny Bruce in lock up, Midge gets an agent and becomes a stand-up comic. Now her family must adjust to the reality that Joel and Midge aren't getting back together, and Midge has a new career. Their extended family and friends make up a cast of colorful characters in what's one of the funniest shows. The characters from "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" have big personalities, making it easy to surmise their zodiac signs. Read along if you want to find out which character you are based on your zodiac sign!

Aries: Shirley Maisel (March 21—April 19)

Joel's mother, Shirley Maisel (Caroline Aaron), is the epitome of Aries energy in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." Aries is a cardinal fire sign, known for being determined, impatient and short-tempered. Aries aren't afraid of confrontation and they like getting their way. We can see this combative nature as a reflection of their planetary ruler—Mars — the Roman god of war. For ancient Romans, Mars was a protector god, and we see this warrior spirit in Shirley.

Shirley can be brash and bossy, but she's just trying to protect her family. This controlling nature comes from Aries' cardinal modality. Cardinal signs are natural leaders who want to guide and influence the lives of those around them. Shirley's lack of boundaries and tendency to think she knows what's best for everyone can be annoying, but it comes from her cardinal drive to take action. As Co-Star said, Aries "need to be reminded that they are a leader, not a dictator."

As a fire sign, Aries are known for their warmth and passion. They can be loving and generous, but they can also lash out in anger when they feel disrespected. Their emotions are big and change direction swiftly, just like wildfire. Enthusiastic and energetic, fire signs know what they want and how to get it. Shirley is bossy, but considering her cardinal fire combo, she really can't be anything else. It's in her nature.

Taurus: Zelda (April 20—May 20)

The Weissman's housekeeper, Zelda (Matilda Szydagis), is a perfect representation of Taurus energy in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." Taurus is a fixed earth sign, known for being practical, stubborn and reliable. Zelda isn't chatty, having immigrated from somewhere in North-Western Europe, but her personality shines through. She is the person who keeps the Weissman household organized and is always there to take care of Midge's kids and cook for the family.

Zelda is filled with frustration, insisting on doing things her way, regardless of what her quirky bosses want. If Rose reorganizes the kitchen, Zelda will reorganize it hours later, putting everything back where it belongs. Despite their stubborn nature, Taureans are incredibly loyal. They owe both traits to their fixed modality. Zelda's loyalty is clear when she continues taking care of Rose and Abe in Queens once they can no longer afford to pay her.

Taurus is an earth sign. Earth signs are literally the down-to-earth people you can count on. Taureans don't take big risks and they love routine. But they also are sensual people, who take pleasure in cooking and eating delicious food. Zelda obviously takes great pride in the meals she prepares for the Weissman family. This is especially true of Taurus, who is ruled by Venus, the goddess of love and beauty.

Gemini: Mei Lin (May 21—June 21)

We meet Mei Lin (Stephanie Hsu) in Season 3 of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," when Joel rents a location in Chinatown for his nightclub, above an illegal gambling room Mei is associated with. Mei Lin is a breath of fresh air. Her vivacious personality and sharp wit completely blow Joel away. Like Gemini, Mei Lin is a smart, fast-talker, who is both fun and mysterious. Gemini is a mutable air sign, known for their charisma and humor.

Ruled by Mercury, the trickster god of commerce and communication, Geminis have a mercurial nature indicative of air signs. Mercury's link to thieves and commerce fits perfectly with Mei's associations with the casino, but also with her goal of becoming a doctor. Mercury's staff, the caduceus, a winged staff with two snakes wrapped around it, is also the symbol used for pharmacies and the world health association.

Geminis are known for their mischievous nature, but like other air signs, they are recognized for their intelligence. Mei embodies all of Gemini's quirks and talents. She is in medical school, which takes exceptional intelligence, something curious Gemini has in spades. With a mutable modality, Gemini are known for their adaptability and quick wit. Gemini's have a way with words, something we see when Joel and Mei verbally spar.

Cancer: Rose Weissman (June 21—July 22)

Rose Weissman (Marin Hinkle) is the perfect picture of Cancer. Although Cancers are a cardinal water sign, don't expect them to be pushovers. The Crab, the symbol for Cancer, has a tough shell and pinchers. While Cancers are intuitive and emotional like other water signs, they often hide their emotions behind their stiff outer shell. Water signs are known for their creativity and excellent aesthetic taste, as we see in Rose's beautiful wardrobe and home furnishings. Cancers are home and family-oriented, taking pride in creating an inviting environment for their family.

Rose's Cancer sensibilities are on full display in her abilities as a matchmaker. Her intuitive nature and focus on family make her able to see how people will connect and complement each other. The only problem is that Rose's cardinal modality can make her bossy, making people feel like she is intruding and forcing her opinion on others, like when she tried to set up Midge's ex, Dr. Benjamin Ettenberg (Zachary Levi). Cardinal signs need to influence and guide other's lives, as they are natural leaders. Rose and Shirley butt heads because of their shared cardinal modality.

Leo: Sophie Lennon (July 22—August 22)

Sophie Lennon (Jane Lynch) brings Leo energy to the cast of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." Like Leo, Sophie loves being the center of attention. She is creative, funny, and loves luxury. Leo is a fixed fire sign represented by the Lion. Sophie embodies the regal countenance of the Lion, surrounding herself with beautiful things. Leos are ambitious, charismatic leaders with a flair for the dramatic. According to YourTango, since Leos "feel so comfortable in the spotlight, they tend to have amazing stage presence and don't care how dorky they may look, so they have no problem acting like a clown for a laugh."

Passionate, creative and enthusiastic, fire signs are energetic, vibrating with life. Although Leos can be warm-hearted and generous, as we saw when Sophie gave Susie (Alex Borstein) a fur coat. Leos also know how to hold a grudge, especially if you have wounded their pride. As Midge learns after revealing, Sophie is a slim, rich, upper-class lady with theater training, rather than her portly, poor and crude stage persona.

Leos have a fixed modality, which means they are loyal and reliable, but incredibly stubborn. This also means sometimes they get stuck in their feelings, which is part of the reason they rarely change their mind, and think they are never wrong. Ruled by the Sun, Leos expect everything to revolve around them. Leos have a lot of wonderful qualities, but as we see with Sophie, they are also prone to arrogance and can be self-centered.

Virgo: Abraham Weissman (August 23—September 22)

Abe Weissman (Tony Shalhoub) is the perfect embodiment of Virgo, a mutable earth sign known for being critical, analytical and hardworking. Abe is a math professor at Columbia in the first couple of seasons until he has a midlife crisis, leading to him losing his job and later become a writer. Both professions are perfect for Virgo. Virgos are known for being practical, intelligent and reliable — all traits a math professor exudes.

But Mercury, the messenger god, rules Virgo. Because of this planetary ruler, Virgos are known for their love of books and their way with words. Abe becoming not only a writer, but a critic is an absolutely perfect job for curious and observant Virgo. We can also see Mercury's influence in Abe's quick wit, and an acerbic sense of humor. As YourTango said, "Virgos are analytical and have a dry sense of humor that makes them hilarious."

One thing that makes Virgos so interesting and unpredictable is their mutable modality. Virgos are a mutable earth sign, meaning they are a walking contradiction. Earth signs are reliable, responsible and people you can count on. But mutable signs are also flexible and open-minded. While these traits are in opposition, in Virgo they find balance, making a person who is strong in their convictions, but capable of change. We see this when Abe sees Lenny Bruce's stand-up act and is inspired by the freedom of speech component of Bruce's ethos.

Libra: Lenny Bruce (September 22—October 23)

Lenny Bruce was a real person. Bruce was a highly regarded stand-up comic and his 1964 obscenity trial was groundbreaking. Before Larry Flynt became a champion of first amendment rights in the 1980s, it was Lenny Bruce who was a crusader for freedom of speech in the 1960s. Upon first seeing Lenny Bruce (Luke Kirby) in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," one might think he is an Aquarian rebel, but the real comic was a Libra, and this sign suits him perfectly.

Libra is a cardinal air sign, symbolized by the scales of justice. Lenny Bruce has a lot to say about the obscenity laws during his stand-up acts, making it clear he believes these laws are an affront to our first amendment rights. From this stance, we can see Libra's dislike of injustice and conformity. Libras are also the class clowns. They love being the center of attention and, as YourTango tells us, "Libras love making people laugh and usually have a natural gift at comedy."

Lenny's stand-up proves he is intelligent — a trait air signs are known for. Air signs are the philosophers of the zodiac and Libras love having intellectually stimulating conversations. Libra has a cardinal modality and enjoys influencing those around them. Anyone who fights for a cause is trying to influence others to care as much as they do. Lenny uses humor to win hearts and minds, which is a very Libra thing to do. Libras are also trendsetters. We see this in Lenny's fight for freedom of speech, but also in his sleek suits, because Libras are very fashionable.

Scorpio: Susie Myerson (October 23—November 21)

Susie Myerson (the Emmy Award-winning Alex Borstein), Midge's talent agent, is 100% a Scorpio. Scorpio is a fixed water sign. Susie is tenacious and brave, just like Scorpio. Her brutally honest nature is also a Scorpio trait. She tells it like she sees it and isn't afraid of anything — except being vulnerable. Scorpios don't do vulnerability. Like other fixed signs, Scorpios are loyal friends who are incredibly stubborn, just like Susie.

In Season 4, when Jackie (Brian Tarantina) dies, we see Susie's emotional nature rise to the surface. Scorpios are great at talking tough, and they are tough, just like the Scorpion, which symbolizes this zodiac sign. They have a stinger and a hard shell, but like other water signs, Scorpios are emotionally sensitive creatures. This is part of what makes Susie a good friend and agent. Like other water signs, she is intuitive, sensing Midge's talent, but also what Midge needs to succeed as a comic.

Scorpios hate dishonesty and they don't easily suffer superficial fools, which is probably why Susie is always giving Midge a hard time about how high maintenance she is. Susie, like Scorpio, is resourceful, powerful, and passionate. Like Co-Star says, Scorpio "Looks cool in a leather jacket."

Sagittarius: Midge Maisel (November 22—December 21)

Miriam "Midge" Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) the star of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" is a Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign, symbolized by the Archer, Chiron, a centaur from Greek mythology — a creature with the body of a horse but the upper body of a human. Like Midge, Sagittarius has a terrific sense of humor and they are generous by nature. Midge's jokes, like the Archer, always hit their target. Like other fire signs, Sagittarians are known for their warm-heart, feisty personality and enthusiasm. They have big personalities and a charismatic presence (something essential to being an entertainer), and Midge definitely has it. Fire signs can also be bossy, and we see this in the way Midge won't take no for an answer.

Sagittarius has a mutable modality, making this fire sign more flexible and observant than Aries or Leo. Sagittarians are spontaneous, adventurous, and adaptable — all traits Midge exemplifies. She rolls with the punches, adapting to whatever life throws her way. Mutable signs are also very curious and observant, traits that make Midge such a terrific comedian, using observational humor to get laughs. YourTango said, "Sagittarians are observant and smart so they can see humor where others may miss it." Midge has no filter and will say almost anything, which is yet another Sagittarius trait that is key to her comedy.

Capricorn: Moishe Maisel (December 21—January 20)

Moishe Maisel (Kevin Pollak) has big Capricorn energy in Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign, symbolized by the sea goat. Like Moishe, Capricorns are responsible, disciplined people who believe in hard work and tradition. Moishe just can't relate to his son Joel, who is dissatisfied with a desk job and nuclear family.

Ruled by Saturn, Capricorns are all about restrictions, rules and taking responsibility. Capricorn's planetary ruler and their earth element make Capricorns dependable realists you can count on. When Joel wasn't making enough, Moishe bought Joel's apartment so his family could still live in the building. When Midge wanted to borrow the money to buy back her apartment, Moishe was there to help her. Capricorns are known for being stubborn and irritable, and Moishe embodies this earthy disgruntled attitude.

As a cardinal modality, Capricorns are project leaders, with big boss energy. Moishe is the boss at his clothing company, and he enjoys delegating duties to his employees. Cardinal signs are all about getting things started, but they are also emotional people who "have no patience for those who waste their time or take without giving back," as Cosmopolitan pointed out. Capricorns are duty-driven, and they expect everyone to carry their weight.

Aquarius: Joel Maisel (January 20–February 18)

Joel Maisel (Michael Zegen) might seem like a water sign, but we'd wager he is actually an Aquarius with a water moon, making him more emotional than your average Aquarius. Aquarians are a fixed air sign. Joel is a good person who loves his family, but when he leaves Midge, it is because of his Aquarian nature. He just isn't satisfied with a desk job and the traditional nuclear family. He wants something different for himself. As an idealist, like most Aquarians, Joel feels out of place and like no one understands him.

When Joel finally opens his nightclub, he finds the work that suits him. Aquarians, although they are independent, don't actually like being alone. The Nightclub atmosphere is an environment guaranteed to provide Joel with a variety of tasks so he will never get bored and different people to meet and talk to. Joel's air element is also a clear indicator of why he and Mei connect and have those dazzling verbal duels. Air signs are drawn to each other.

Aquarians are a contradiction. They are dynamic and adaptable like other air signs, but they have a fixed modality, making them the loyal friends you can count on. Even after their divorce, Midge can always count on Joel. He is a dedicated friend and father, and this comes from Aquarius' fixed modality. Joel's Aquarian nature is also why his father just doesn't understand him. Capricorn is all about the rules, and Aquarius is rebellious and progressive.

Pisces: Shy Baldwin (February 19—March 20)

Shy Baldwin (LeRoy McClain) infuses the world of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" with Pisces' energy. Even his shiny suits look like the gleaming scales of a fish. Pisces is a mutable water sign symbolized by the fish. Like Pisces, Shy Baldwin is a bit of a tragic character. Living in a time, he feels the need to hide his sexuality in order to succeed in his chosen career. Pisces are artistic and creative people, something we see clearly represented by Shy's success as a musician and in his beautiful wardrobe.

Like all water signs, Pisces are emotional and intuitive people who feel things deeply. Shy carries the aura of sorrow many exhibit. Of all the water signs, Pisces is the most sensitive. This sign is prone to depression, as we see when Shy has an emotional breakdown on the boat in Florida, confessing to Midge that he is gay.

Pisces are known for their mood swings, which is in part because of their water element, but in the fish, their mutable modality exaggerates this. Mutable signs are flexible and open minded, but they can also be a little indecisive. The combination of a water element and mutable modality leads to big shifting moods and poor boundaries, which are often the source of Pisces misery. Shy and Midge have a real connection, in part because they share a mutable modality. Their signs are opposite each other on the zodiac, indicating they are each other's perfect counterpoint.
