The Best Team Leader In Motherland: Fort Salem According To Fans

Set in a female-dominated world where witches have been conscripted into the U.S. army since the Salem trials, Freeform series "Motherland: Fort Salem" focuses on three young women who have been drafted into a military unit of powerful spellcasters: Raelle (Taylor Hickson), Abigail (Ashley Nicole Williams), and Tally (Jessica Sutton). Whereas Raelle's father was a civilian who fell for a witch, Abigail is from a storied family line, and Tally's aunts all fought and died in action. The witches use vocal sounds to practice a kind of magical combat, with each unit then working together to battle terrorist organization The Spree.

Over two seasons, with a third and final one currently in production (via Hollywood North Buzz), the young witches have changed and grown significantly. Raelle especially has discovered her untapped potential with magic, while Abigail saw her core beliefs shaken by her family being targeted and dealing with the military bureaucracy, and Tally gained experience in combat and as a part of the unit.

But who of the main three characters is the best leader within the Fort Salem unit? Here's who "Motherland: Fort Salem" fans have decided is most ready to command the team.

Redditors think Tally is the best leader of the unit

Commenters on the "Motherland: Fort Salem" subreddit agree with u/The-Pink-Panther that in fact "Tally is the unit's best leader". As u/The-Pink-Panther points out, Abigail may have the bloodline and the most experience of the recruits, but "in my opinion the unit works better together under Tally's leadership." Abigail is often depicted as the natural leader, but Tally is better at challenging authority and acting selflessly for the benefit of the group, both of which are strong leadership qualities.

u/Madigrey also points out that Abigail "makes really bad decisions when emotions get involved," whereas u/MunchYourButt noticed how "Tally's emotions are her strength that allow her to question authority and see through Alder's lies." In short, Abigail tends to make impulsive choices based on her emotions and personal investment, whereas Tally uses her feelings to try and understand the truth about difficult situations.

It will be interesting to see where the characters will end up in the final season, but u/Jamie_Taylor27 is hopeful that "Motherland" will "most certainly address at some point [Tally's] rightful place as the leader of the unit."
