Mayans M.C. Season 4: Release Date, Cast, And Trailer - What We Know So Far

Since premiering in 2018, the FX motorcycle crime series "Mayans M.C.," a spinoff of the popular FX series "Sons of Anarchy," has delivered three seasons of drama both onscreen and off.

When the show started off, its main character, Ezequiel "EZ" Reyes, was freshly out of prison and seeking to become a fully patched member of the Santo Padre Mayans motorcycle gang. Since then, he had indeed earned his patch, but his progress in the organization has come at a price. So far, it's cost him his relationship with the love of his life, Gaby, and his ambition has threatened the SP Mayans' very survival.

Off-camera, FX fired the show's co-creator and showrunner Kurt Sutter in October 2019, after multiple complaints about his treatment of the crew, (via Variety). Stepping in to replace him was his co-creator, Elgin James, who's been running the show ever since (Sutter still serves as a producer).

The last time a new episode of "Mayans" aired was on May 11, 2021, which was the Season 3 finale. At this point, we have a good idea of what Season 4 is going to look like. Here's everything we know so far.

When will Mayans M.C. Season 4 premiere?

As reported by Deadline, FX has set the premiere date for "Mayans M.C." at April 19, 2022. The show will air Tuesday nights on FX at 10 pm EST, with episodes available on Hulu the following day. The season premiere will consist of two back-to-back episodes that will air on the same night. Season 4 includes ten episodes in total.

Looking ahead to a potential Season 5, co-creators Kurt Sutter and Elgin James haven't indicated whether they have a set number of seasons planned to tell the story of "Mayans M.C." If "Mayans M.C." does get picked up for a fifth season, hopefully FX won't make fans wait as long as they did between Seasons 3 and 4.

FX renewed "Mayans M.C." for a third season back in November 2019 (via Variety), and the season premiered in March 2021. More recently, FX renewed "Mayans" for a fourth season in May 2021, before Season 3 had even ended, with the premiere coming less than a year later.

Season 3 averaged about 750,000 viewers per episode (via TV Series Finale). If Season 4 gets similar ratings, it's possible FX will once again renew the show before Season 4 has wrapped.

Who is in the cast of Mayans MC Season 4?

As reported by Deadline, most of the main cast of "Mayans M.C." will be returning for Season 4. That includes JD Pardo as the main character, Ezequiel "EZ" Reyes, Clayton Cardenas as his brother Angel, and Edward James Olmos as their father, Felipe. The Deadline report didn't indicate whether Sulem Calderon will be back as Gaby, EZ's love interest and the woman he rescued from coyote border smugglers. In the Season 3 finale, Gaby left EZ to attend nursing school. While her departure will definitely affect EZ, it's not clear whether Calderon will be present.

Otherwise, you can look forward to seeing Michael Irby as Mayans president Obispo "Bishop" Losa, Raoul Max Trujillo as Mayans VP Che "Taza" Romero, Vincent Vargas as Mayans member Gilberto "Gilly" Lopez, Joseph Lucero as Mayans member Neron "Creeper" Vargas, Frankie Loyal as Mayans' sergeant-at-arms Hank "Tranq" Loza, Richard Cabral as Johnny "Coco" Cruz, Danny Pino as Galindo cartel heir Miguel Galindo, Emilio Rivera as former Mayan and current Galindo member Marcus Alvarez, Carla Baratta as the Los Olvidados revolutionary group leader Luisa "Adelita" Espino, and Sarah Bolger as EZ's childhood sweetheart and current Galindo associate Emily Thomas.

What is Mayans MC Season 4 going to be about?

The Deadline report gave a couple hints about where Season 4 of "Mayans M.C." is headed. Here's the teaser in full: "Once the golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp, EZ, his brother Angel, and the rest of the Santo Padre M.C. face retaliation from other chapters after a failed attempt to align under one King. Meanwhile, EZ and Angel have grown distant from their father Felipe after a heart-wrenching betrayal."

"The attempt to align under one king" part refers to the Santo Padre Mayans charter's attempt to assassinate the Yuma charter leader, Canche (Jimmy Gonzalez), only for Canche to survive, prompting Oakland charter leader Diaz (Alex Fernandez) to gun down Ibarra (Mike Beltran), the Tuscon president and one of the Santo Padre charter's main allies.

The "betrayal" refers to the moment in the Season 3 finale when Felipe convinced Gaby to leave town for Lodi without EZ, urging her to get away from his broken son and save herself.

Since the character Adelita Espino will be returning to for Season 4, most like that means her ongoing storyline about the killing of her son might be another plot point. To briefly recap, Adelita was about to get revenge against Lincoln Potter (Ray McKinnon), the ultra-corrupt U.S. Attorney whom she's long believed responsible for her son's death. In the Season 3 finale, Potter revealed her son isn't really dead.

Finally, another big development in the Season 3 finale has big implications for the future. Gilly successfully killed the leader of Meth Mountain, only to learn that he was affiliated with the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle gang. That could be setting up a confrontation between the Mayans and SAMCRO, which has been long in the making.
