The Flash Casts Sugar Lyn Beard As New Villain Hazard For Season 4
The Flash is heating up for an action-packed fourth season with the news of another villain being cast to oppose the Scarlet Speedster, Variety reports.
Sugar Lyn Beard, a Canadian actress who has recently appeared in (or is slated to appear in) You're the Worst, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and the upcoming The Disaster Artist, has landed the role of Rebecca Sharpe, also known as Hazard, a vengeful enemy who has the power to control probability and luck.
First appearing in issue #34 of the DC series Infinity, Inc. in 1987, Hazard became a member of a league of super-villains called Injustice Unlimited, where she used her powers of probability influence to turn the tables to her advantage while refusing to cause the deaths of her foes. Her casting places her alongside an increasingly stacked roster of enemies already confirmed for the new Flash season, including Hartley Sawyer as the Elongated Man, Danny Trejo as Breacher, Kim Engelbrecht as The Mechanic, and Neil Sandilands as the season's main heavy, the Thinker.
Hazard will see her debut in the third episode of the new season, titled "Luck Be A Lady." Check out some photos from the set (via ComicBook.com). It remains to be seen if the role will recur throughout the fourth-season, which returns to the CW on Oct. 10.
According to executive producer Todd Helbing, the show will sport a lighter tone and more humor this go-around. "Last year was pretty dark," he said during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. "We're going to try to get back to the jokes."
