The Vander Theory That Could Change Everything In Arcane Season 2

"Arcane" is, dare we claim, an absolutely perfect series from Netflix and Riot Games. Currently holding an untouchable 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, "Arcane" has been a huge success for both companies involved. The show primarily follows the sisters of Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell), but the cast itself was augmented by fantastic performances from Kevin Alejandro as Jayce, Reed Shannon as Ekko, Jason Spisak at Silco, Brett Tucker as Singed, and JB Blanc as Vander.

Vander was the ersatz leader of the Piltover Underground, aka Zaun, and it is implied that he was a former criminal who cleaned up his ways to lead the people around him to a better life. Unfortunately for him, "Arcane" had him reach a tragic end that saw him ingest the mutagenic "shimmer" which transformed him into a hulking brute. He used this newfound and awful power to protect his loved ones, and it appeared as if he died in the process. This caused Vi to be sent to Stillwater Prison and Jinx to fall into the care of Silco, but an interesting theory regarding the character of Vander could set a huge Season 2 surprise.

Vander could transform into an iconic character

One of the final scenes of "Arcane" saw Singed in his workshop, with a quick glimpse of a vaguely lupine and humanoid figure in suspension. "Arcane" is based on the world and characters of "League of Legends," and the game currently has 157 playable characters (via Leaguefeed). One such character is named Warwick, and he is a shimmer-augmented werewolf created by Singed. According to Warwick's biography (via League of Legends), "Though many think of Warwick as no more than a beast, buried beneath the fury lies the mind of a man — a gangster who put down his blade and took up a new name to live a better life. But no matter how hard he tried to move on, he could never escape the sins of his past."

This particular character suffers from amnesia in-game, but astute fans of the series are already connecting the dots on Reddit. When Reddit user TheLolMaster11 posited, "Is Vander Warwick?" u/Asctkd responded, "I would be very surprised if he wasn't. Everything lines up for him to be Warwick, from the voice lines in-game, to the hints in the show, to the bio being almost identical. The only difference is the fact that Singed was working on him for a long time and then he died becoming Warwick but that's a small change."

Some disagreed with Vander eventually becoming the fearsome Warwick and argued that a difference in age of the characters would be impossible, based on current video game lore. Either way, fans cannot wait for the already-announced Season 2 of Arcane, and we may get a surprise return of a character thought dead. Vander returning as Warwick would certainly be an interesting foil for either Vi or Jinx.
