Inside Job Season 1, Part 2 - What We Know So Far

Netflix has made a name for itself in the adult animated comedies category thanks to hits like "Big Mouth" and "BoJack Horseman." More recently, the streamer has released a multitude of new shows, including "Adventure Beast," "Q-Force," "Chicago Party Aunt," and the fifth season of "Big Mouth." The Alex Hirsch-produced animated comedy "Inside Job" is just the latest in a long line of adult animated series to debut on the streamer and now, fans are looking forward to the release of Season 1, Part 2.

"Inside Job" has proven to be a hit with Netflix viewers. The series marks a major milestone for Netflix, as it is the streamer's first adult cartoon to be created in-house at Netflix Animation Studios (via Netflix). The animated show has been praised by critics following its October 22 debut. The San Francisco Chronicle's review notes, "It's emotionally wise and sincere, and completely bonkers in a free-associative way [...] But it absolutely works," and

Despite the fact that the series recently launched Part 1 of its first season, fans are already preparing for Part 2. Here's what we know so far about "Inside Job" Part 2, including the release date, cast, and plot.

Is there a release date for Inside Job Part 2?

While the second season of "Inside Job" hasn't been officially announced by Netflix just yet. However, we know a Part 2 is on the way thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, who wrote in 2019 that the initial series order included 20 episodes. A quick glance at the show's Netflix page reveals only 10 episodes dropped on Netflix on October 22, and they were labeled as Part 1 instead of the traditional Season 1. This classification implies the next 10 episodes are on the way.

The question of when "Inside Job" Part 2 will be released looms large right now. With a 20-episode initial order, there is a chance that Netflix won't announce the Part 2 until just a few months or weeks before its premiere. This is the case with "Masters of the Universe: Revelation." The animated fantasy series' Season 1, Part 1 debuted in July, and the Part 2 release date was announced in early October (via Deadline), one month ahead of the actual release date.

That being said the branding of "parts" instead of "seasons" does raise a few questions. Netflix released the final season of "Bojack Horseman" (via IMDb) in two parts released only a couple of months apart but is displayed collectively as one season on the streamer. On the other hand, the Matt Groening series "Disenchantment," much like "Inside Job," titles its seasons as "parts" and releases each installment a year apart, per the show's Netflix page.

All things considered, it's very possible Netflix will release "Inside Job" Part 2 within the next year, provided there are no major production delays on the next 10 episodes.

Who is in the cast of Inside Job Part 2?

"Inside Job" Part 2 will feature the return of many of Part 1's voice actors. This includes Lizzy Caplan as Reagan Ridley, "Mr. Robot" alum Christian Slater as Randy Ridley, Clark Duke as Brett Hand, Tisha Campbell as Gigi Thompson, Andrew Daly as J.R. Scheimpough, Chris Diamantopoulos as Robotus, John DiMaggio as Glenn Dolphman, Bobby Lee as Dr. Andre, and Brett Gelman as Magic Myc (via IMDb).

We can also expect many other people to return, such as "Inside Job" executive producer Alex Hirsch, who voices multiple characters like Grassy Noel Atkinson (via IMDb), and recurring stars Ron Funches and Suzy Nakamura. It is currently unknown if Part 2 will feature any new additions to the cast, but it wouldn't be surprising. Perhaps a cast member from Hirsch's hit series "Gravity Falls" could make a guest appearance; the show's cast includes the likes of Jason Ritter, Kristen Schaal, and Linda Cardellini.

What will likely be the plot of Inside Job Part 2?

Per the Netflix June 2021 announcement revealing its upcoming slate of adult animated shows, "Inside Job" is set inside a top-secret government organization known as Cognito Inc. The employees of this government group know that any and all conspiracy theories are, in fact, true. The series focuses on several employees, including Reagan (Lizzy Caplan) and Randy Ridley (Christian Slater), Brett Hand (Clark Duke), and Gigi (Tisha Campbell), as they do whatever they can to prevent the world from learning that the conspiracies they think are just theories are actually factual.

The first 10 episodes of "Inside Job" focus on Reagan finally following in her father's footsteps and getting the promotion at Cognito Inc. that she has been yearning for. Unfortunately, she now has to share her new role with Brett, a corporate stuffed shirt with a heart of gold (via The Hollywood Reporter). Part 1 ends with an arc centering around Regan and her co-workers tracking down a mole in the agency who created a security breach that puts the company in danger (via Inverse). The last episode concludes with Reagan going inside her mind to uncover her dysfunctional childhood memories to find a forgotten password. Part 2 of "Inside Job" is likely to pick up right where the cliffhanger ending of Part 1 left off, with Randy being reinstated as the CEO of Cognito Inc. by the shadowy Robe council.
