Chicago Med's Newest Character Fans Agree Is The Best

"Chicago Med" is an immensely popular medical drama procedural that's part of NBC's well-received "One Chicago" franchise, which also includes "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Fire." Currently on its seventh season, which started on September 22, 2021, and created by Matt Olmstead and Dick Wolf, "Chicago Med" shows the events that occur at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center and all of the interpersonal drama that comes from doctors and people in close proximity of the hospital.

"Chicago Med" features a sprawling cast, including Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Nick Gehlfuss, Brian Tee, and Marlyne Barrett. Many of these series mainstays are fan favorites, like Platt's Dr. Daniel Charles and Barrett's Maggie Campbell, so it can be difficult for new cast members to grab the attention of longtime viewers. That's certainly not the case for one new doctor, however, as fans are already enthralled by them this early on in the new season.

Dr. Dylan Scott is the new fan favorite on Chicago Med

"Chicago Med" fans recently took to Twitter to discuss their favorite new addition to Season 7, and it looks like there is a total agreement on the character who has made the biggest splash. It turns out that fans are absolutely crazy for Dr. Dylan Scott (Guy Lockhard), a former police officer who decided to change careers and take up the Hippocratic Oath.

One such fan tweeted,"#ChicagoMed is trying really had to make me fall in love," while another replied, "Absolutely. Needed his beautiful soul this season...hope it doesn't turn!!" Fans continued to heap praise on the new actor, with several responding with GIFs of praise or heart emojis. Doctor Scott has a calm and positive bedside manner, and his time as a police officer grounds the character in the real world.

Funnily enough, Lockhard already appeared in the "One Chicago" franchise, in a Season 8 episode of "Chicago Fire" where he played a protestor who has to undergo an emergency procedure from a paramedic before being rushed to the very same Gaffney Chicago Medical Center where Lockhard's new character now practices medicine.

"Chicago Med" airs on NBC and is available for streaming on Peacock.
