The Ingenuity Of The Househusband Season 2 - What We Know So Far
Not to be confused with "The Way of the Househusband," Netflix's "The Ingenuity of the Househusband" is the former series' bonus/companion show, loosely based on the original manga and Netflix anime. The series is comprised of short, live action skits following the everyday life of the titular househusband.
"The Ingenuity of the Househusband" stars Kenjirô Tsuda, who also voices the main character Tatsu in the anime "The Way of the Househusband." During "The Ingenuity of the Househusband," Tsuda, who goes by his own last name in the series, makes his way through an ordinary day in his quiet suburban house. Four to five minutes with Tsuda involves everything from smoking bacon to making udon noodles to sharpening knives to polishing item after item in his house. The routine is never dull thanks to Tsuda's charm and the relaxed tone of the show.
"The Ingenuity of the Househusband" just released its first season on Netflix in two chunks — five episodes came out in August, and five more in late September. But will fans get to see more? Who will star in a second season of "The Ingenuity of the Househusband," and what will it be about? Here's what we know so far.
When will The Ingenuity of the Househusband Season 2 be released?
It's likely that the renewal of "The Ingenuity of the Househusband" will rest upon the success of "The Way of the Househusband." There's definitely good news on that front though, as the second season of "The Way of the Househusband" was greenlit back in April of this year and premiered on Netflix on October 7, 2021 (per Anime News Network). Still, Netflix might want to wait a month or two to figure out how views stack up for "The Way of the Househusband" before committing to more of the spinoff series.
Even if it's renewed soon, every TV show requires shooting and writing time. Though "The Ingenuity of the Househusband" stars one man and has one location to shoot in, it still takes time to edit those brief episodes together, and Netflix might also want a second season to coincide with more "The Way of the Househusband" episodes. With all of these factors combined, it's fair to estimate that you might see a second season of "The Ingenuity of the Househusband" some time in early to mid 2022.
Who will star in the second season of The Ingenuity of the Househusband?
There's just one (human) star featured in the first season of "The Ingenuity of the Househusband," and that is Kenjirô Tsuda. Presumably, he'll return should more episodes of the show be greenlit, and would get to spend a lot more time roaming his house finding chores to do with great intensity. Tsuda's cat, Hige-chan, will likely return as well for further petting and snuggling.
Though the simplistic charm of "The Ingenuity of the Househusband" is what makes it so eye-catching, it's possible that more characters could be introduced to the show to give Tsuda some people to play against. Might Tsuda stumble across a school rival or problems with a relative? A neighbor or enemy? A family? People down at the local grocery store? Even more pets? We'll have to wait to find out what the series has in store should the show be renewed.
What will the second season of The Ingenuity of the Househusband be about?
Presumably, should "The Ingenuity of the Househusband" return, we will receive more household tips from Tsuda and learn them with style, panache, and flare. There will probably be more recipes to be made, further minor repairs to be done, and simple chores to accomplish around the house.
Since Tsuda has shown us how he washes clothing, perhaps we'll see how he vacuums. Maybe we'll see what it's like when he goes shopping for groceries, has to make a major plumbing repair, or has his car go on the fritz. Perhaps there will be lessons on caring for a cat.
So many things can go wrong when you own a home, and the show will be able to explore more of those issues if it manages to be renewed. Whatever task Tsuda faces next in "Ingenuity of the Househusband" Season 2, he'll surely have one whale of a time keeping everything in order while getting food on the table and clean laundry in the basket.
