Star Wars Actor Hayden Christensen Reveals His Feelings On Sand

Anakin Skywalker doesn't like sand, and it turns out that the actor who plays him, Hayden Christensen, isn't exactly its biggest fan either.

During an interview at this past weekend's Star Wars Celebration, Christensen (who famously delivered the cringeworthy monologue about sand in Attack of the Clones) revealed his feelings about sand and joked about the awkward line in the prequel

"I don't like sand," Anakin espouses in the film in one of his many, many awkward conversations with Padme. "It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth." The scene, which has gone down as one of the most cringeworthy in Star Wars history, is a common figure on Reddit boards about the general awfulness of the prequels, and it has turned into a big enough deal that an interviewer with Disneyland Experience decided to ask Christensen about his feelings on sand at the recent event.

Christensen, who has remained mostly out of the spotlight and away from Star Wars conventions since his ill-received turn in the prequels, laughed at the question before responding, "Well you know, it's not very smooth, it doesn't really stay in one place, so I'm not such a big fan of it myself. You know, although, if it leads to the water, I can tolerate it. But Anakin came from a desert planet, so I understood his contempt for it."

The actor also commented on his evolving relationship with the franchise in the interview, saying that it is still "very much present" in his life. "It's evolved, but there's still so many people that are discovering the movies for the first time, and so my relationship with the films is still very much sort of very present in my life and my life is still very Star Wars-centric," he said.

The highlight of Star Wars Celebration was the trailer release for The Last Jedi and all of the tidbits surrounding the movie's plot and the future of the franchise. But it's still great to hear things about the past movies. Now that we know Christensen is willing to joke about his famously awkward moment, take a look at some of the other hilariously cringeworthy lines from the Star Wars franchise.
