Netflix Renews Santa Clarita Diet For Season Two
The undead live on: Netflix has renewed its Drew Barrymore-starring zombie comedy for a second season. The streaming service announced the renewal via a short video on their YouTube page Sunday, using the slogan, "Ready for seconds?"
Santa Clarita Diet stars Barrymore as Sheila Hammond, a suburban real estate agent whose life is turned upside down after she wakes up one day with a hankering for human flesh. Timothy Olyphant (Justified) plays her struggling husband Joel, while Liv Hewson (Before I Fall) plays their daughter Abby and Skyler Gisondo (Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb) plays their young neighbor Eric. Fans of the show should definitely be happy to see a second season, especially consdiering that the series ended on a pretty big cliffhanger, with Sheila locked up to prevent her increasingly violent tendencies from harming her family and Joel tucked away in a mental institution.
Season two is expected to debut at some point in 2018. No plot details are available at this time, although it would make sense for season two to pick up pretty shortly after the events that ended season one. We'll hopefully learn more about the show's sophomore outing in the coming months; in the meantime, though, see the other Netflix shows that are going to blow you away this year.
