Deadpool Creator Is Happy To See Zazie Beetz As Domino

While the casting of Zazie Beetz as Domino in Deadpool 2 may have taken some fans by surprise, the actress has one very important supporter.

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld took to Instagram to share his excitement about the news, saying the Atlanta actress is "everything I could have hoped for."

Ryan Reynolds broke the long-awaited news of the casting on Twitter, and Liefeld quickly added his stamp of approval.

Of course, you can't please everyone (definitely not on the internet), and some fans are upset about the character's apparent change of race from the comics to the screen. However, Liefeld tweeted something that should extinguish that flame war. Turns out that Domino's ethnicity was always ambiguous.

Either way, the casting shouldn't have been all that shocking: the rumored frontrunners for the role were Kerry Washington and Janelle Monae. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, the producers of Deadpool 2 were "looking to specifically cast a black or Latina actress in the role of Domino," and went through multiple audition rounds before deciding on Beetz.

Now the big question is who will play Deadpool's pal Cable. The most recent reports suggest that Stranger Things star David Harbour is a strong choice, having screen-tested for the role.
