The NCIS: LA Actress Who Is One Of The Oldest Teen Choice Award Winners
The Teen Choice Awards (TCAs) have been around since 1999. Inspired by the very popular Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, the annual fan-voted awards ceremony is an opportunity for American teens to share everything from their Choice Actress to Choice Social Media King.
Unsurprisingly, the show has reflected some of the world's hottest teen acts of the past 22 years, including big names like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Ariana Grande, and Britney Spears. Yet, it's not only the under-25 crowd that has brought home the TCA'S iconic surfboard awards.
Between 2010 and 2013, the hit show "NCIS: Los Angeles" was nominated for "Choice TV: Action" four times and lost only once. During that time, one of the show's biggest stars also brought home awards for Choice TV Actress: Action. However, it wasn't one of the younger actresses on the show, such as Reneé Felice Smith or Daniela Ruah, who snagged her own surfboards.
Linda Hunt has won twice at the Teen Choice Awards
Linda Hunt won Choice TV Actress: Action at the 2011 and 2012 Teen Choice Awards for her portrayal of Hetty Lange on Criminal Minds. Hunt, who was born in 1945, is one of the oldest Teen Choice Award winners, though the honor of the oldest goes to Betty White, who won a surfboard for her dance performance in 2009's "The Proposal."
Hunt is an incredibly talented actor, with a long career before her days on "NCIS." She started her career on Broadway, performing in "Hamlet" in 1972. Her performance in 1982 political drama "The Year of Living Dangerously" won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, an accolade perhaps slightly more impressive (though arguably less competitive) than a Teen Choice Award. Hunt has also appeared in other beloved films such as "Popeye," the Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy "Kindergarten Cop," and 1984's "Dune." Her signature gravely voice has made her a prime candidate for voice acting, too, and '90s kids will recognize her as the voice behind Grandmother Willow in 1995's "Pocahontas."
Now in its 13th season, "NCIS: Los Angeles" is still going strong. With Hunt continuing her beloved work on the show, another surfboard just might be in her future.
