Gal Gadot Gets Candid About Her Experience With Joss Whedon During Justice League
The actress who brought Wonder Woman to life on the big screen has opened up about her less-than-wonderful experience on "Justice League."
After Gal Gadot's co-star Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg, revealed plenty of explosive details about largely disgraced "Justice League" director Joss Whedon to The Hollywood Reporter last month, Gadot has remained mostly silent about her reported scuffles with Whedon on the set of the 2017 DC film. For Fisher's part, the actor has been extremely vocal, bravely speaking out about Whedon's allegedly abusive behavior on set, as well as some unsettling issues with higher-up executives at Warner Bros. Fisher brought up examples of incidents that ranged from simply inappropriate to racist, and he alleged that Whedon was also abusive to Gadot herself.
Now, in an interview with an Israeli news outlet, Gadot has confirmed this information and has even clarified Fisher's previous comments, lending credence to Fisher's laundry list of allegations. As The Hollywood Reporter revealed, Gadot opened up during an interview with Israel's N12 News, claiming that Whedon did, in fact, act inappropriately and cruelly to her during the filming of "Justice League."
Yuna Leibzon, N12's interviewer, brought up the previous allegations against Whedon when it came to Gadot, saying, "He even said you should just be pretty and say your lines. You weren't going to let him get away with it." In response, Gadot simply said, "No."
"What I had with Joss basically is that he kind of threatened my career and said if I did something he would make my career miserable," Gadot continued. "I handled it on the spot."
In THR's previous story, the outlet claimed that Gadot was upset with the differences between the character of Wonder Woman between the standalone film and "Justice League," and expressed that to Whedon, who was pushing her to perform the way he wanted. As one insider told THR, "Joss was bragging that he's had it out with Gal. He told her he's the writer and she's going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie."
This latest apparent confirmation of Whedon's abusive behavior — after revelations from former "Buffy" stars like David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter and Michelle Trachtenberg, as well as Fisher — makes the situation even more upsetting.
