Sistas Season 3 Release Date, Cast And Plot - What We Know So Far

In 2019, acclaimed producer and director Tyler Perry partnered with BET to release the comedy-drama "Sistas." The story centers on four 30-something women named Andrea Barnes (Kj Smith), Daniella King (Mignon), Karen Mott (Ebony Obsidian), and Sabrina Hollins (Novi Brown). They come from different walks of life, but thhey bond over the hardships of complicated love lives, careers, and the ups and downs of social media interfering with realistic relationship standards.

During its first two seasons, "Sistas" drew in plenty of viewers that included many different demographics. This narrative hits home for women worldwide, and Perry's "Sistas" gets it right with truth, emotion, and a tight-knit bond between the leading ladies.

"Sistas" is a popular show, so it makes sense that fans are begging for info about Season 3. According to Season 2's finale and BET's recent announcement, there will be a third season. Here's what we know about Season 3 of "Sistas" so far.

What is the release date of Sistas Season 3?

Before Season 2 wrapped up at the end of March 2021, BET officially gave the green light for the 3rd season of "Sistas" in January 2021. Because "Sistas" is one of BET's most popular shows, renewing it for another season makes sense. Season 2 also ended on a major cliffhanger, so fans expected the storyline to wrap up with another round of episodes.

The one-hour drama averages between 22 and 25 episodes, and most production companies would need to take their time, but not when it comes to "Sistas." Tyler Perry is known for quickly turning in productions, and according to TV Series Finale, Season 3 will launch on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, per a press release from BET. The announcement confirms that BET's #1 scripted series will be back for more, and fans won't have to wait long to watch what happens next. It will be a great way to kick off the summer.

Who is in the cast of Sistas Season 3?

It's a shoo-in that Andrea, Sabrina, Daniella, and Karen will be back for the 3rd season, and judging from the Season 2 finale, Gary Marshall Borders (Chido Nwokocha), Maurice (Brian Jordan Jr.), Calvin (Anthony Dalton), Preston (Trinity Whiteside), Jasmine Borders (Crystal-Lee Naomi), Jacobi (Skyh Alvester Black) and Zac (DeVale Ellis) are also expected to reprise their roles, as well. Because several of the actors are love interests of the main cast, there's no telling what will happen in the next season or how long they'll stick around. For now, fans should expect the cast to reprise their respective roles when the show premieres in June 2021.

Like most shows heading into a new season, "Sistas" fans may see new additions to the series as the drama picks up after Gary is shot. There hasn't been an official announcement on anyone joining the current cast, so it's only speculation for now. With the success "Sistas" has already seen, it wouldn't hurt to add even more memorable characters to the show.

What is the plot of Sistas Season 3?

The biggest storyline at the end of Season 2 involves Andrea and Gary. After a rough patch, the high-powered attorney sets strict terms in her relationship with Gary and what she wants going forward. After speaking with her friends about her choice, she seems like she's in a good head space. Because the women have a solid friendship, everything comes down to their influences on each another, and the whole show is built around their bonds. The end of Season 2 also centers on Sabrina and her new love interest, but an old flame is still on her mind, so fans can expect further exploration on her love life.

What actually happens in the new season is up in the air, and time will only tell which direction the women will go in their careers, and relationships. One thing is for sure: Fans will get to see Kj Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, and Novi Brown return and embody strong, empowering women, which is what made this show a success in the first place. BET has a gem on their hands with "Sistas," and the more we see of these amazing characters, the better.
