This Recut Game Of Thrones Trailer Has Fans Talking

HBO is celebrating Game of Thrones' tenth anniversary with a new, recut trailer for the show's final season... and fans are buzzing.

In the aftermath of a truly disastrously received eighth and final season of the epic HBO fantasy drama, which aired its final six episodes in the spring of 2019, HBO has released a spoiler-filled recap of the last season, filled with some of its biggest moments, like the Battle of Winterfell, Daenerys Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) quest for the Iron Throne, the now infamous siege of King's Landing, and more. Shortly before this trailer, they also released a trailer for the entire series and stocked it with some of the show's biggest moments — including ones from the final season — clearly hoping to entice new fans as well as remind old fans of the show's former glory.

Fans have taken to the YouTube comments to discuss their feelings about this new trailer... and many outlets are now wondering if Game of Thrones will eventually get the "Snyder Cut" treatment and release a new cut of season 8. Here's why this recut Game of Thrones trailer of season 8 has fans talking.

This new Game of Thrones trailer is making fans wish for a rerelease

As soon as the trailer was released, incensed fans took to the comments to leave some barbs about the largely despised eighth season. One user hoped it would somehow turn out differently, writing, "I'm very confident Bran [Stark, played by Isaac Hempstead-Wright] will finally do something epic this season that isn't just sitting in his chair while the end of the world ensues around him," while another complained, "Thanks, I was just fine forgetting this season existed." Another commenter used a line prominently displayed in the trailer — ""That's what death is, isn't? Forgetting. Or being forgotten" — and quipped, "Ironic, that's exactly what we've been trying to do about this season." Someone else wrote, "'This seems like a great ending,' said nobody," while another joked, "HBO embarrassing themselves by even posting this."

All of this has fans crying out for their very own "Snyder Cut" — referring to Zack Snyder's original vision of Justice League which just hit HBO Max — and though the circumstances are wildly different for Game of Thrones, it's not out of the question that HBO might return to this rich well if and when series author George R.R. Martin finishes the final two books in his Song of Ice and Fire series. Game of Thrones is already returning with a prequel on HBO, House of the Dragon, as well as a stage play, so maybe the demand for a brand new version of season eight isn't completely impossible.

Either way, you can stream the entirety of Game of Thrones on HBO Max now.
