My 600-Lb Life: Where Is Cynthia Wells Now?

Cynthia Wells had a rough go of it during her season 5 episode of My 600-Lb Life. As a single mother to five children, she had spent years neglecting her own health so that she could raise her kids. It soon got to the point where she couldn't carry out basic tasks, and naturally, she was worried about what would happen to her children if anything happened to her. As so many people did before her, she put her health into the hands of Dr. Now.

Anyone who's seen My 600-Lb Life can attest to the fact Dr. Now is incredibly strict when it comes to making sure people interested in weight loss surgery stick to his regimen. Wells didn't like what he had to say when she went to visit, and combined with the stress of constantly driving back and forth from Oklahoma to Texas, she decided to simply try to lose weight on her own without his help. She did, however, eventually receive a gastric sleeve surgery with his help. While she started the episode at 610.3 pounds, she ended at 454 pounds for a total weight loss of 156 pounds. It was a great start to a healthier life — one in which she'd be able to attend all of her kids' events — but she had a long way to go.

Fortunately, she hasn't given up on her progress all these years later.

Cynthia Wells has continued dropping weight and has big plans for the future

She may have been at 454 pounds back in 2016 during her episode of My 600-Lb Life, but Cynthia Wells wasn't done yet. She stopped by for an episode of My 600-Lb Life: Where Are They Now? to check in with her fans to show how much more progress she's made over the years. Over the last few years, she's dropped roughly an additional 100 pounds to where she's now in the mid-300 range. While it's excellent work, it still wasn't enough for Dr. Now, who wanted her to lose even more weight before agreeing to perform surgery on her. He also told her that she should attend psychotherapy sessions so that she could better manage the emotional attachment she has with food.

She seems to be doing a lot better, and last time she checked in on the reality series, she stated how she wanted to continue dropping the pounds so that she could eventually qualify for excess skin removal surgery. She's not letting up on her healthy new habits by the looks of it as she regularly posts updates to her Facebook profile, including progress trackers of how far she's jogged during a given session, oftentimes with a friend by her side. Given she could barely leave the house when she first appeared on the show and now she's running in excess of two miles, it's exceptional to see her life completely turn around.

Recent pictures from March 17, 2021, show her looking vibrant and healthy, and it's clear she's now enjoying life to the fullest with her children. The future is incredibly bright for the reality star as she's joined the ranks of the likes of Christina Phillips and Justin McSwain who are unrecognizable now due to all the weight they've lost.
